    Computer tip of the day

Here is my computer tip of the day.

Do you have certain websites that you go to each time you use your web browser?

It Firefox you can open up multiple tabs each time you start the browser.

    Go to tools/options/main
Under homepage put in something like this:

    ttp://www.uncrate.com/|http://www.motorcycledaily.com/|www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum|

Put a pipe in between each site you want an open tab to open.

You can do the same thing with IE

    tools/internet options/general

Type in a different address on each line and hit apply

Ok, I figured it out, only works from the options menu, you cannot just put it in the browser bar.

Re: Computer tip of the day

This is less of a tip and more of a shortcut. I use it so much now that I forgot about it. This works with either Firefox or IE.

Do you always type in www.cyclonefanatic.com

Next time you type in an address do this:

In the address bar type in cyclonefanatic and hit Ctrl-Enter

This will throw in the www and .com at the end.

If you don't use this shortcut remember that you no longer have to put in www. You can just type in cyclonefanatic.com and it will take you to this amazing web site.

Long ago I wrote an Applescript that executes that very action plus opens Realplayer to WOI-FM's stream. So each morning before I've had enough coffee with one click I've got all I want to know right there. BAM!

The only time I ever wanted a mac was when I saw the megaman osx app launcher. That looked awesome.

I can't believe IE would take something so Unix-like and incorporate it...

If any of you are using Microsoft Vista, there was a service pack released earlier in the week.

It was released yesterday. It took about 45 minutes to install, and resulted in little noticeable difference for me, except faster boot time and shutdown time.

The SP was released years ago, it is called XP.

Re: Computer tip of the day

I had few problems with XP. I've had even fewer with Vista. People always dog the latest OS Microsoft puts out. As soon as something comes out to replace Vista, people will start getting wood over Vista. It's like the 2nd string QB.

The only OS I can really complain about is Windows ME. It was a dog.
