St. Patrick's Day: Tasks and Plans

    Me:

Always have a glass of Guinness with supper. And then head to the local 'pub' for a green beer or two.

What are everyone else's plans/rituals/tasks for St. Patricks Day?

Re: St. Patrick's Day: Tasks and Plans

St. Patty's day last year I drank a 750ml bottle of Bushmills and I was hoping to make that a tradition. But, since it's on a Monday and I have to work, I'll have Jameson on the rocks when I get home. Then with dinner, I'll have a Guinness or two to go with my steak and potatoes.

Re: St. Patrick's Day: Tasks and Plans

My wife and I always do the mythical "corned beef, boiled cabbage and soda bread" with a pint of Guinness to wash it down.

I don't care if it's authentic, to me, it is tradition.

A frosty beer under the tent at Sully's every year. I've been going since I have been legal.

I believed in Gene Chizik and all I got was this lousy limited-edition commemorative coin.

Re: St. Patrick's Day: Tasks and Plans

I love Guinness and always get all excited for today but then I always get disappointed because Guinness is NEVER part of the specials at any bars I ever see. The owners know that people are going to buy it anyway so I think that's why they don't lower the price. Sucks that it's never on special any other time of the year either...

Re: St. Patrick's Day: Tasks and Plans

St Paddy's day is insignificant (in Iowa) unless it falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Good any other day of the week when in Chicago or New York.

"May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
    And until we meet again,
    May God hold you
In the palm of his hand."- Old Irish saying.

"Men are like bagpipes: no sound comes from them until they're full."-always a good one!

    Happy St. Paddy's!

Can anyone even stand to be around you after eating that? That just sounds nasty. Is the cabbage like boiled red cabbage or something?

I still would not eat it. Corned beef is not my favorite, and unless the cabbage is fermented and on top of a brat, it is not very good either.
