Dogs conquer tornadoes, First 20 loss team in dance, Big12 powerhouses colide

I just love this time of year.

Georgia, forced to play 2 games in one day - takes their total of 4 conference wins and 1 tournament win into the day and exits with not one, but two conference wins as a result of a game delay from yesterday. Nothing short of amazing. The last time this happened? Somewhere in the 1950's. A shame no one got to see it. They'll face Arkansas tomorrow with a real shot at making the NCAA tournament.

North Carolina Central, with a putrid record of 4-26, becomes the first 20-loss team to punch their ticket to the NCAA tournament - ever. Duke beat this team in their season opener, 121-56. But here they are, headed for The Dance.

Speaking of Duke, they were upset by Clemson today. There will not be a rematch of the big dogs in the ACC conference tournament this year. Instead Clemson will look to finish off it's nifty run with back-to-back upsets of Duke and North Carolina.

And...speaking of conference powerhouse foes - tomorrow at 2, Texas and Kansas will meet in the Big 12 conference tourney for the third straight year. The Longhorns look to make it 4 wins on the year over teams ranked in the top 5. The single game they played earlier this year, in mid-February, was decided by a lone 3 points - the difference possibly being Texas played in their home floor. KU is favored in this one, but it certainly seems Texas is playing much better ball right now.

Here's the story about North Carolina Central.

It wasn't a conference championship game. It was a "bonus" game.
    They aren't in the tournament.

Ok, that makes more sense. I couldn't find it. Wish they were in though...Illinois has a shot to be in as an 18 loss team.

ESPN said earlier they were in fact in the tournament. They could be mistaken, but I specifically heard that.

Kentucky got ripped off when the refs swallowed their whistles and didn't call that charge on the out-of-bounds play.

It reminded me of our '96 game vs UCLA, when JC took a charge and the refs didn't call it. Pizzes me off...
... I guess refs just won't call that play - what do you folks think - should a coach set up that play if the refs won't call it??

Sometime it will get called. What makes me more mad about '96 was when Jacy was the receipient of a Jordanesque push off no call and then they made the winning basket.

I just saw on ESPN that if Georgia wins today it will be their first 4 game winning streak of the season.

I thought that was Dedric W. that took the charge. Either way it was a BS call.

That is great! It would be cool to see a team with that many losses win one or two in the dance.....but i'll bet all my credits against them in the first round.....still cool tho
