Chevrolet HHR? Anybody have one and...

...has anyone dealt with KARS Incorporated in Pleasant Hill?

They have a 2006 I might be interested in, just wondering if any of you have any inside thoughts on these two things.

No knowledge on the HHR, but it's not my cup of tea, kind of looks like a PT Cruiser and a minivan had a love child, but more boxy looking.

My work vehicle was an HHR, and it was a pretty good little vehicle. Avg. gas mileage with city and highway combined was about 27 mpg. Rode smooth and comfortable.

I just payed off our Explorer with some of the transition pay from Pella and now I want a new vehicle. I just saw an ad for it. Seemed like a good price.

I hate when I get these itches to buy something, they can be overwhelming and scares my wife.

How did it handle it bad weather?

I never really had any problem with it at all. For my work, I usually had to get out and go regardless of the weather, and it stayed pretty stable, and never had a problem with getting going from a stop.

Thanks! I just checked Consumerreports.org, they trashed it, so I guess I won't be getting it.

Really? My one complaint would be blind spots. The rear right and left dividers are quite wide. Also, the low profile of the windshield takes some getting used to. Otherwise, it worked well for me. But obviously, I didn't have to pay anything for it.

In my experience, consumer reports doesn't know what they are talking about. They have a fixed way of ranking things, and often the best products on the market get the worst ratings.

Re: Chevrolet HHR? Anybody have one and...

    +1 on crappy ConsumerReports "reports".

A lot of time, they give a point if a vehicle has a certain gizmo. If it doesn't have that gizmo, or the gizmo works one way, but they think it should work another, the car loses a point for the gizmo.

It matters not a whit to Consumer Reports that you might not want the gizmo, or the gizmo doesn't fit in with the mission of the car.

They habitually downcheck Jeeps for "road noise." Personally, I could give a rat's patootie about "road noise". Let the metrosexuals drive their "Latte Express" not quite 4 wheel drive car, and leave my Jeep alone. It's a Jeep, for gosh sakes....

I agree! When I did retail lawn & garden sales, we would sometimes have 2 models side-by-side. Both would be almost totally identical, but one was rated much higher, usually if it cost more.

Basically, it seemed like they rated by price, even when lower-priced items were identical. The written reviews didn't often sho a whole lot more knowledge than just the list did

The only thing I would be worried about is their resale value but that's probably why you're getting it so cheap.

If it isn't a Honda or Toyota, consumer reports isn't going to like it. I'd check with Car and Driver, Motor Trend or some other car mag for an opinion.

A great example of this from working with my dad in his tv store- Consumer Reports used to consistently rate JVC vcrs much higher than Zenith vcrs. Funny part? JVC manufactured Zenith vcrs, and in many cases, they were the exact same machine with slight cosmetic changes and of course different name plates.

Exactly! Just up the price, and you've upped the rating.
