"Play for something the last week of the season"

Do you guys remember Pollard saying something along those lines? If so, let's say when we take to the field for the last game and we are 5-6. Do you suppose that Pollard/Mac would say that meets the defiined goal? In theory they would be playing to become bowl elidgeable.

It sounds silly, but it was a thought that crossed my mind today.

Re: "Play for something the last week of the season"

This season is so hard on everybody, including Pollard because we all had such high hopes and goals for this team. I think that despite our performance so far, there have still been a lot of successes this year. By that I mean that we ratcheted up the excitement a couple degrees, sold record numbers of season tickets, had two consecutive record crowds, etc.

We might or might not be playing for an extension to the season during the last game, but we will be playing for even higher goals for next season. I think we are all dissapointed but we need to remember to keep supporting the team by turning out on Saturday's so both recruits and players understand that we expect better but we still support them regardless.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

We could be playing for respectability - achieving a [__]-[__] record yet having the pleasant knowledge we knocked Missouri out of the b12 North Title Game... to make the Huskers the #[__] victim of Tejas.

Or we may be shooting for an offensive show - regardless of opponent.

Or we could be 7-4 at that time playing to go 8-4...
