    The Next Marijuana?

I haven't heard of this "herb", but evidently many others have. The herb that goes by the name salvia divinorum has already been banned by 8 states and many others are looking into it.

Based on the picture of the "amateur botanist" (gotta love that title, wonder if he puts that on his business cards) in the story, I think I'll steer clear.

My question after reading this - is there a process that a weed goes through to become classified as an herb? Any non-amateur botanists out there that can answer that for me?

    Re: The Next Marijuana?

Saw this earlier.... people are probally over reacting to it though fusing with a non animate object would be kidna weird...
I have weird hallucinations all the time but those are induced by lack of sleep, not by drugs

Anyone here ever tried to calculated the derivative of what time they had to to wake up to make it to work on time? Didn't think so...

    Re: The Next Marijuana?

I've heard stories about doing it, and it is some weird ****. One person said it felt like their skin was being unzipped off their body. No thanks, I'll take my delusions the old fashioned way, with lots and lots of alcohol.

    Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:

It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Can I claim to be an amateur Civil Engineer because I built a new driveway? Or perhaps I should go for amateur Surgeon because I removed a splinter last week?

Also, hard to believe that guy is into this sort of thing based on his picture.

    harmless hallucinogenic substance
That phrase contradicts itself, whether you wish to admit it or not.

Ha! That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm an amateur landscape architect, amateur irrigation engineer, amateur architect. I had no idea I was so talented!

Yeah - that's a real stretch. I was thinking he was the CEO of GE.

    How so?

There have been hallucenegic drugs for thousands of years. Some are quite harmless and rather benign... others are incredibly destructive and drive you nuts, like PCP.
