Rockets vs. Nets Bad Call Last Night

I am not going to pretend to be a fan or follower of the NBA, but I did catch highlights on Sportscenter of Rockets vs. Nets last night and there was a call in that game that drove me nuts. Richard Jefferson of the Nets dunked over Dikembe Mutumbo (sp?) and then gave Dikembe the "no-no finger shake" that Dikembe is so stupidly famous for. Joey Crawford then gives Jefferson a T for taunting...are you kidding me?!

First, I think that finger shake by Dikembe is the dumbest thing in the NBA and that's saying a lot because the NBA isn't all that great anyway. I've seen several highlights where he'll block a shot and rather than get the ball out to start the break, he takes 3 seconds to get his finger shake in. It drives me absolutely insane because it's like he thinks he HAS to do it after every block.

Second, that is a fantastic example of the double-standard officiating call. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Joey Crawford the guy who got suspended by the NBA last year because he tossed Tim Duncan while Duncan was sitting on the bench? So, it's not like he has a great reputation for making good calls.

Either way, terrible call on the technical and Dikembe's finger taunting is stupid to begin with.

    Anyone else see this highlight?

I would've given him a T if he did it to anyone, he was obviously taunting. The fact that he did it to Dikembe just sweetened the deal as that is his thing. I think Dikembe should probably get T'd up too, but when you've been in the league as long as him you get certain breaks, this is probably one of them.

All that being said, the NBA is still a joke of a league.

It's because the NBA outlawed the finger pointing a couple years ago.

The way they explained it on ESPN was when Dikembe does it, he does it to the crowd and not to one specific person. When Jefferson did it, he directed it right at Dikembe which is taunting.
