    Players that left

Is there any news yet on where Taggart and Degand are planning on going I thought for sure we would hear something by now.

I'm not surprised that we haven't heard anything, because it's not like they can leave until the end of the semester. I bet they are finishing up finals this week, and we hear something next week about them going or staying.

Most likely end up at a JC. Probably won't hear until middle of may.

Will they have to sit a year if they go to a JC?

Nope, they can play next year if they go to a JUCO. They would probably both be smart to go that route. Degand so that he doesn't sit 2 straight years and Taggart to lift his stock IF it has dropped in the eyes of D1 coaches.

Degand sat out last year, he can play immediately at any school. (You don't have to sit out at the school you go to ... like Recker from Arizona to Iowa).

Yes, Degand will have to sit out a year, unless he goes to a Juco or a DII school. Recker's situation was unique in that his girlfriend was severly injured in an accident and the NCAA gave him an exemption. Plus he didn't sit out his redshirt year at Indiana. You shouldn't consider Recker's situation a precedent.

New addition for UNI announced in press release- Stephen Jones, a guard from Bethalto, Ill will join the University of Northern Iowa men’s basketball program next year. “Stephen is the type of guard that fits very well in our system,” Jacobson said. “He can handle and pass the basketball, is a very good three-point shooter, and makes great decisions. I also love Stephen’s intangibles. He’s tough, he’s a competitor and the team’s goals will always come first.” The 6-1, 190 pound Jones was a four-year starter for Civic Memorial, and averaged 17.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game as a senior. A standout shooter, he made 66 three-pointers his senior season and is the school’s career leader in treys made with 238. He ended his career second on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,705 points, and is also the school’s career leader in assists (589) and steals (346). A four-time All-Mississippi Valley Conference selection, he was his team’s captain all four seasons. He joins the four recruit class from last Nov, all of whom stayed committed to UNI. So McD coming to ISU did not undermine UNI at all in the recruiting game. Good trnasition.

KUsports.com had a comment on Curtis today:

"Kansas University has no players on the early entry list, which lists Big 12 Conference players LaMarcus Aldridge, Daniel Gibson and P.J. Tucker, Texas; Curtis Stinson and Will Blalock, Iowa State; Thomas Gardner, Missouri; and Richard Roby, Colorado.

Nebraska’s Aleks Maric, who over the weekend confirmed he was entering his name but not hiring an agent, was not on Tuesday’s list provided to NBA teams, leaving the experts to wonder if his name would appear on the list provided to media today.

Of the Big 12 players, just Aldridge and Stinson have signed with agents, leaving the possibility the others could withdraw by the June 18 deadline.

CU’s Roby, who appears committed to staying in the draft, might be wise to reconsider college, Givony said.

“He’s saying they have 10 seniors graduating (from a depleted CU team),” Givony said. “I’ve watched tapes of him. He’s so weak physically. Every time you touch him, he fumbles the ball. By no means is he ready to do anything in the NBA. He’s not a freakish athlete. He’s a 6-5 spot-up shooter.”

Of the ISU duo, Givony said: “Stinson is 23. If you are 30 by the end of your rookie contract, teams don’t have a lot of interest so he’s probably doing the right thing. Blalock needs another year. He’ll benefit coming back next year playing with the athletes they have on that team, which figures to run.”

The Roby comment is fairly funny - a spot up shooter. Curtis was so much more.

Roby was one of my least favorite big 12 players this year, just his look made me want WM to send his strongest walkon after him. Maybe that way he would have gotten fired earlier and we could have made the NIT with DA at the helm.
