    Re: The endangered Humpback Chub

I'm a life member of Trout Unlimited, they do great things protecting and rebuilding waterways. Good place to start to help this fish and other species. They have a ton to deal with, pollution, trash, whirling disease and alien species being introduced in their waterways.

They do some cool things like rebuild a section of a trashed stream by building structures using trash and such for the fish to be protected. It's pretty cool.

    Re: The endangered Humpback Chub

It sucks when something becomes endangered. We as humans have had a tremendous impace on natural balance of things. Here lies an issue. We kill a species way down that it disrupts the natural order of things in its environment; such as if it was the top predator or it was the natural food for a predator. This in turn cause the prey or predator to find something else and disrupts that order. On the other hand when we try to bring back the endangered species and it starts thriving it can cause a new shift especially if relocation happens. It really sucks. Im not a huge environmentalist by any means, but I am aware of impact. I hate to see species dissapear.

The Humpback Chub is essential to the survival of the human race!

    Re: The endangered Humpback Chub

We were taught in my senior year of Biology at ISU that 3 species go extinct every hour on this planet, including both plants and animals. That is a staggering figure and I'm sure it has gone up since I graduated. Just to do some quick math on that..... 72 species a day, 504 species a week, and 26,208 species a year! Some speciation does occur, a new species, but it is far less than that that go extinct.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

I wish mosquitos would dissapear. I know many animals and insects depend on them, but wow do I hate that creation.
