Re: New GA and Football coaches

Gabe and Ryan have been GA's all season--started in training camp. Gabe works with the defensive backs w/ coaches Koonz and Raney. Ryan works with the receivers and coach Rodgers.

Beatty is the new Football Operations guy, replacing Barney Farrar who left in December to coach at Southern Miss

This might be the Shane Beatty guy. If it is he did not fair too well at his last stop.

Aren't GA usually younger guys? The Shane Beatty you are talking about started his career in '94

Shane Beatty isn't a GA, the other two are.

Not too sure I like the fact that he quit on his team after getting pasted 87-0.

Guess I'll have to trust Chiz on this one, cause I sure don't see it.

Re: New GA and Football coaches

Beatty is almost purely in a behind-the-scenes role with ISU. Coordinating recruit visits, team travel plans, camp dates, running camps, organizing player appearances, all the little stuff that makes a D-1 football program run smoothly.

He has very little to do with the X's and O's.

It sounds like the problems at WVUT go much deeper than any coach and start with the administration/AD. Leaving a situation like that doesn't bother me if there was a lack of support or promises made that were not kept.

Most of the staff has their roots in the gulf coast states. It's nice to balance things out with a guy with contacts from both coasts, the midwest, and Canada.
