What would YOU do different than Chizik?

Personally, I think GC has made good moves in his year as Head Coach. I like:
-he did not throw seniors under the bus last year. Others would have gone with an underclassman QB all the way, but he did the right thing as a new coach
-he has build discipline. Probably overdone this, but he's making a point and it seems to be working
-no panic in recruiting. When many on this board and others were in a sheer panic with decommits, GC had a plan and stuck with it, and it produced a good class
-he doesn't make excuses. GC is a stand-up guy, takes the blame and moves on
-his coaching decisions improved throughout the season. He's a freshman coach, now a second year and is a fast learner on the job.
Overall, I believe he has make the right moves, but I'd be interested in others take on this. (except for the hawk muraders who are on the site)

Re: What would YOU do different than Chizik?

There's not much I would change. I think he's done a nice job so far on and off the field. I think coaching in such windy conditions was something new for him and something he struggled with at first but that goes along with being a rookie head coach.

Demand people call me The Chiznik!!!!

    Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
    'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Eh, Gene's done all the right things so far, at least for those of us outside of the program to see. The positives are, it seems like Gene's a quality human being and football coach. The potential negative is that it's only been a year so we don't really have any idea what kind of decision-maker he is as head coach. I have a feeling he's a good one, though.

I'd probably wear the Iowa State uniform on the sidelines because I'd be jealous of MLB managers and coaches.

Wear a little nicer clothes on the sideline. Other than that he can do what he wants, the results have been good so far.
