    Diante Garrett

He didn't have a lot of points tonight against KU, but he looks much better with the ball compared to earlier in the season. More confident, drives the lane well and getting better at dishing out when the defense collapses on him.

I think he's going to turn into a pretty solid guard for us next year especially if he and put on some muscle. Hope he start knocking down some more open shots.

This is what the staff expected from him next year.

    Re: Diante Garrett

I was expecting Buckley to start over him, but after that, DG might be starting next year, and not only starting, but playing at a high level. Tonight just made me feel a heck of a lot better about next year.

    Re: Diante Garrett

I agree. Diante is going to be a special player before he leaves ISU. He looks so much more confident with the ball. He has the tools to be a great defensive player as well, just needs to get stronger.

    Re: Diante Garrett

Garrett is getting a lot better and if he adds some muscle will be pretty solid next season.

It sucks that we lost out on Appleton, but since we did I would do one of these things (in this order):
1-JUCO Big to help with the loss of Jiri
    2-bank it for next year
3-get the best available high school player we can this year (regardless of position)

I would like to see us sign Pomlee and Vanderbeaken.

I think Pomlee is a good choice, David Imes also comes to mind. He's a tough forward from New York.

    Re: Diante Garrett

Losing Jiri is going to hurt. There's really no one on the team ready to fill that role right now.

    Re: Diante Garrett

We really need a bruiser down low. It is slim pickins right now in the recruiting game, however. It would be nice to bank that scholarship but I don't know what we would do next year in the post. Wesley may need to play down low again next year (much like he did in the second half).

    Re: Diante Garrett

D.G. is a thief on defense, McDermott showed a lot of confidence in the freshmen with how many minutes he played tonight. This season he has always been pass first, shoot second, in the future hopefully he can become a solid shooter.

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

I heard on the radio that Mcd said he wants to use the two schollies this year, and he thinks he will fill them. He said he doesn't want to bank them.

I think with some added strength, he is going to be really hard to stop on the drive. I hope he can develop a Stinson-like teardrop. The question remains whether he can add some muscle to his very thin frame.

Don't forget his dad played in the NBA. He was pretty strong.

If he said that he wants to fill both schollies, I would bet a lot of money that one is going to Pomlee.
