Former Cyclone James Reed to be Released by Chiefs

    Reported on ESPN's website.
Sorry to hear this may happen. I always like him when he played for ISU.

Report: Chiefs to release Bell, Dunn, Law, Reed

The Chiefs have told four players -- including cornerback Ty Law -- that they would be released, sources told The Kansas City Star on Wednesday.
Law was a starter last season. Linebacker Kendrell Bell and defensive tackle James Reed are former starters, and tight end Jason Dunn was a key reserve. Law, Reed and Dunn are over 30; Bell will turn 30 in July. The moves come following the release of offensive tackle John Welbourn and wide receiver Eddie Kennison, who are both over 30 and had contracts for the 2008 season.

Lightbulb Re: Former Cyclone James Reed to be Released byChiefs

That is too bad. He just signed a new 3 year deal with the Chiefs before last season. But then the Chiefs picked up a couple rookie DL in Turk McBride and Tank Tyler. Both stuck with the team, so writing was kind of on the wall.

He had a pretty good run by NFL standards with 6-7 years in the league. Hope he has himself set up well (give ISU some money James!)

I was, and am a James Reed fan. He played some good ball, here and hope he remembers his time here, fondly.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

It sounds like it you are over 30 on the chiefs, you have officially hit retirement. Hope they don't check Tony Gonzalas' birthdate.

They should let their coach go also.

    This is probably about money.

The Chiefs suck at this point.

    Bring MARTY ball back.

With the Chiefs its 2 things right now, age and money. They need to shed both if they want to get back into the playoffs anytime soon.

Normally I hate the spelling and grammar police, but that is some of the worst comma placements ever.

Well stated. My grammar goes to crap when I post. What happens is that I start typing one thing, that requires a comma, then I change my mind mid-stream, but forget about the comma.

say what? It made cents to me.

    (just joking about sense)

Until they get a real qb in KC it will not make a difference whom they cut to save money.

Brody Croyle is a slug. Bite the bullet and bring back slow Trent Green. Larry Johnson will continue to get injured since they use him too much. New leadership is needed in KC. Bring Marty back - at least he had playoff teams. And Gunther is not that great of a defensive coach when the cupboard is bare except for Jared Allen.
