    Rutter has options too

After looking through coachingnewsonline.com some more I found an earlier post that said Coach Rutter would be considered for South Dakota State if that were to open up.\

Rutter sounds just like McDermott on the call-in show...just an observation.

I hope McD can keep the staff together, the last thing we need at this point is more distractions.

Agreed. If these guy jump ship at this time that will continue to set us back. They deserve to reach their dreams, but hopefully in a few years and not now.

Thirty seconds after a job opens, The talking heads and other know it alls, will be out with a list of possible replacements. It's as if the Athletic directors actually needed thes guys to help them fill their vacancys. Now we've got a service that fills the positions before they are even open.

I would be real surprised if Rutter leaves.

    Re: Rutter has options too

However, it is interesting that two of his staff may be considered and on the move to an 0-29 team and to South Dakota. Hmmm. If either left, that would really hurt team stability for next year - McD would have to start reassembling the team again.

Both seem to be a stretch to leave unless they are not paid enough.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't rutter the main reason Lucca stuck around?

    Re: Rutter has options too

I do think (and this is just my own opinion) that assistant coaches like Leonard Perry and Terry Carroll leaving for head coaching jobs hurt LE's programs the last two seasons he was coach (in addition to a revolving door of players leaving, some recruiting misses, alcoholism, etc.).

But I agree. I wouldn't want to lose our assistant coaches right now in this stage of the development of our program.

    Re: Rutter has options too

Yeah, I would hate to see Rutter leave. I see him as the heir apparent to the job when/if McD leaves/retires.

I hope everyone is well today. THAT's what's important.
