If Wrigley changes names, I will be ******. That is just wrong!

What happened to tradition... oh, that is right, it has been bought out by Wal-Mart. ;)

Sam Zell is now officially on my List.

I just can't wait for "Wrigley Field at Go Daddy.com Stadium".

    NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I will also be very sad if it changes.

Soldier Field and Wrigley Field... two names that need to never change.

Good idea but might not be enough. Maybe we should use all credits in circulation, to buy it, and name it cyclonefanatic field at wrigley stadium.

It will fix everyones gabling problem and give the site press at the same time!

I think Santa Clause should change his name before Wrigley field does.

To bad these guys don't take CF credits:
    For Fans Sake

They want to generate enough money so the fans can own the team... Much like the Packers I think.

Re: Cubs Owners Willing To Sell Naming Rights To Wrigley

Ya know, there is only one corporate name that I wouldn't object to on Wrigley Field, and that is "Old Style Stadium". Okay, okay, how about "Vienna Beef Stadium".

Cause really, those names are synonymous with Wrigley....

Re: Cubs Owners Willing To Sell Naming Rights To Wrigley

People threw a big stink here in Denver when they sold the naming rights to Mile High Stadium. It's a shame that the stadium is named after a defunct company, but people have really forgotten about it. Going from Mile High Stadium to Invesco Field at Mile High isn't that bad.

I would assume if there is a sale, it would be something like Wrigley Field at Accenture Park.

This is what I could see as well. However, if you are a company that has the kind of money it would take to get naming rights to Wrigley Field, I think you would also be smart enough to realize that a LARGE amount of people are going to hate your company no matter what for doing it.

Re: Cubs Owners Willing To Sell Naming Rights To Wrigley

I wouldn't be too concerned. Sam Zell is notorious for doing this with other companies. His ultimate goal is to get the state to buy Wrigley Field. He's basically saying, if the state doesn't buy the stadium, I'll either sell it to a private entity which would be free to sell the naming rights or I'll have to finance the renovations by selling the naming rights. The fans and neighborhood residents put pressure on the state to buy the stadium to avoid the name change giving Sam leverage over the state to negotiate a better price. I'd bet everything I had that Wrigley Field will always be Wrigley Field. Of course I said the same thing about Comiskey.

I still think it's pretty funny that the Cubs biggest rivals own the naming rights to the bleachers...

Re: Cubs Owners Willing To Sell Naming Rights To Wrigley

Well, being that Wrigley is one of thew older staduims and is soon going to need renovations to be kept standing...I guess that I might be able to stomach the thought of Wrigley Field @ XXXX Stadium. I would rather have it up and running with a different name (but still Wrigley Field in there) than torn down like Vets.
