    Future Cyclones in Postseason

Can anyone help with giving some updates on how Buckley, Mann, and Hamilton are doing in postseason play? We've heard about Eikmeier, and hope to hear more good news too. Just wondering how the others are doing as each state approaches their version of the big dance.

Of the 4 guys, how many might play on title teams?

Currently Lone Peak (18-2) is ranked #1 in Class 5A and finished the season undefeated in Region 4. They start the 5A state tournament on Monday, Feb 25. Here is the Class 5A Bracket:

Clint Mann's St Thomas Aquinas team will have a good test tonight when they play Bishop Miege. Miege's star player is Travis Releford who is committed to play at KU next season. Releford is generally regarded as the bst player in the KC area.

Aquinas currently has a record of 12-5 and will begin district play next Wednesday.

A little low, but not unusual for Kansas high school BB. My son's HS will play a 20 game regular season.

Michigan high school boys begin tournament play 2/24. Buckley is one of four finalists for Michigan's Mr. Basketball. His team lost last Friday on a 22 foot 3 pointer with 1.5 seconds left. The team they lost to was ranked #1 and Buckley's team #3.

It is great to see that all of our recruits are playing on good teams that could go far in their respective state tournaments. This experience will help them prepare for post-season at the collegiate level, which all ISU fans are hoping they get an opportunity to experience.

    Re: Future Cyclones in Postseason

Article from the Kansas City Star about Clinton Mann's game against Travis Releford's team last night. Mann did OK.

Miege defense puts too much pressure on Aquinas
    Source: The Star

Miege senior Travis Releford beat Zach Bourquin for two points. Bishop Miege’s full-court defensive pressure fed off the standing-room-only home crowd of about 2,000 fans. It got louder with every Stag steal, breakaway and basket. St. Thomas Aquinas ball handlers were no match.
Miege, ranked No. 2 in The Star’s big-class poll, led by 28 points before holding on for a 67-54 victory Friday. The Stags, 20-2 overall, won the East Kansas League title with a 9-1 mark and will take a No. 1 seed into next week’s Kansas 5A substate at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Miege senior Travis Releford, a University of Kansas recruit, made 12 of 14 from the field and scored 29 points on his 18th birthday.
“We’ve never had a crowd like this,” Releford said. “When they come out and get loud, it gives us a lot of energy at the start of the game.”
Aquinas had 18 turnovers in the first half, Aquinas coach Sean Reilly said.
“If you have 18 turnovers in one half in ‘biddy ball,’ you’re not going to win,” Reilly said.
“They did a good job of pressuring us, and we did a very poor job of responding. It just wasn’t our guards. It was forwards. We had a complete offensive meltdown.”
Miege won its sixth straight game and avenged a 56-53 loss at St. Thomas Aquinas on Jan. 29. Clinton Mann, a 6-7 Aquinas senior and Iowa State recruit, scored 23 points in the first meeting. He scored 19 points in the rematch and led Aquinas, 12-8 and 7-3.
Aquinas had trouble getting into its half-court offense, much less getting the ball inside to Mann, in the first half thanks to Miege’s full-court, man-to-man defense.
“We want to get out and defend and put pressure on the guards and the wings and make it tough for them to get it into the big man,” Releford said.
Releford scored the first five points of the third quarter, giving Miege a 48-20 lead, before Aquinas rallied.
Aquinas trimmed the lead to 59-52 late in the fourth quarter, but Miege made free throws down the stretch.

So, that would make Hamilton precisely ONE degree from Kevin Bacon?
