    Bobby Knight

has to be crying in his beer about what's going on at Indiana?

Has anybody heard any public comments from him lately on this topic? Obviously Bobby always has been a handful, but he always ran a "clean" program and the kids mostly graduated. I respect him for that part of his job.

I feel a little sorry for Indiana when you consider there place in history with basketball. However, I also thing a lot of the pain has been self inflicted. I think this is going to take years to recover from. This is like Larry Eustachy times 10.

I don't think that IU (or for that matter, ISU with the LE situation) is all that big of a deal. The big issue at IU is that this sort of stuff simply doesn't happen there, not so much that it doesn't happen elsewhere. It's a slap in the face to a program that's never even been talked to sternly. That's the disastrous part for the program.

Perhaps the Eustachy deal was no big deal from the NCAA's standpoint, but it was a devastating change for us. All the momentum we had built up from Johny Orr through Larry Eustchay vanished.

I agree. Anything from the Orr/Floyd/Eustachy era was lost when Eustachy was fired. I think that is why McD is having a hard time (also, the team totally leaving after Morgan was canned probably didn't help either)

It might hurt IU in the short-term if sanctions come down....but they're IU, they wouldn't be down for long.

Well I don't think it SHOULD have been a big deal. Not to turn it into a LE thread, but I totally disagree with how that whole situation was handled. It turned into something devastating because it wasn't handled well by the administration, not because it was a fundamentally devastating situation.

Yeah I agree with you there. Bruce V. shoulders a lot of that blame, but Larry got us there to start with. It was just a bad deal for everybody!

Back to Bobby Knight, I'd love to hears what he thinks about this Indiana deal.

Larry put Bruce V. in a situation which required strong leadership and decision making skills, and Bruce V. showed exactly what he was made of.

It would be interesting to see what Knight thinks of the whole mess. It's certainly not his style to bite his tongue, and KS certainly doesn't do things the way that BK does, but I doubt he'd have anything more insightful to say than most of us.
