    Brian Carlwell

For those you that follow Illinois, like myself, know that Brian Carlwell has decided to leave the program. I think he would be a great addition to our program. He would give us that inside presence that we are looking for with Jiri leaving. For those of you that don't know who I am talking about here is his profile.

Before I say yeah/ney on this young person... why is he leaving?

    - keep.

He just didn't fit in with the program. He played 3 games early against bad teams, hurt his knee and hasn't played in a game since. If you guys remember Carlwell was the guy who was in the car with Jamar Smith when he got his DUI and smashed his car.

So he has a bad knee and likes to go out and booze it up? Sounds like he will end up at EIU.

    Re: Brian Carlwell

Carlwell was the sober one in that incident....shame he wasn't the one driving.

He was a highly rated recruit but has not lived up to potential...due in part to injuries and the car accident. Weight has been a concern as well as mobility which may be related.

even if he did come here, he would need to sit out a year. Would not help us next year.

Great point, he is a thug until he PROVES otherwise. Guilty until proven innocent.

As long as we know he didn't cause trouble and went to class and is worth a years investment with zero return while he sits out, why wouldn't we want a talented big men like him, they are tough to find.

If it smells like crap, looks like crap, then MOST of the time it is crap. Just sayin....

I don't know anymore about this case than anyone else in this thread which is very little. I am just going to go with common sense and say that most likely this kid wasn't out feeding the poor or teaching to kids to read before his drunk buddy smashed his car.

Lots of sober people willingly ride while a drunk person drives. It's called city buses.

    Re: Brian Carlwell

I wouldn't have a problem with him coming to Iowa state. He seems talented, and it wasn't his fault his buddy was drunk and smashed them both up.
