    Lunar Eclipse

Evidently there is a total lunar eclipse going on right now. I can't see it, don't know if it is cloud cover, or even where to look for the moon.

    Re: Lunar Eclipse

I can see it here in Waukee. The moon is totally shadowed out about right now and looks pretty cool. The wife is camped out by the upstairs window facing the east and is watching it all happen.

Yep, it's a beauty. Get out and see it...it won't happen again until 2010.

    Re: Lunar Eclipse

I just ran up and checked it out. It is a pale orange color right now and looks really cool. It's clear as a bell here in Waukee so I would think you could see it in Ankeny.

how high is it in the sky? We have some cloud cover that I am guessing is blocking my view.

It's high. Just over the top of my tree.

Really, though, I'm guessing 75 degrees up from the horizon, but I'm not a real good judge.

Look east south east. Up about 75 degrees.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

    Yep, way too high.

Cloud cover here limits me to 35-40 degrees.

    Gotta love Iowa

    Re: Lunar Eclipse

Strangely enough the sky was clear tonight in the Madison area and I am watching pretty much the whole thing. Pretty neat!

I think it's in the 240,000 mile range to the moon, give or take a few thousand. Can't remember from that History Channel show I just watched.

Crystal clear up here. I've been watching off and on tonight. My daughter was mad that I wouldn't let her stay up and watch it.

    Re: Lunar Eclipse

Thanks for the reminder, I can see it great from Johnston. I wish I had my telescope out, but it is still in the box from my move and I don't feel like setting it up right now. Maybe in 2010.
