Utility for removing FrontPage tags from HTML files

Does anybody know of a (preferably free) utility than can remove FrontPage tags (like webbot) from HTML files?

    Thanks!

HTML Tidy - there's an addon for Firefox for it too. Don't know the link off hand but I'm sure you can google it.

sed or awk would probably work.

Re: Utility for removing FrontPage tags from HTML files

This is the problem with using applications to create HTML files for you - it fills the code with all sorts of useless junk. Frontpage -- and Word, especially -- are awful at this. If you know web programming, do yourself a favor and write HTML by hand. Or at least use a powerful editor, like Dreamweaver, to help you.

On a related note, as anyone played with Dreamweaver CS3? I've been dying to get my hands on it. Too I can't afford any of that package legally.

    Good advice.

Ulimately, I ended up brining the HTML files into Word as text files (which prevents further mangling), and used a wildcard search-and-replace to get rid of most of the webbot junk.

I've been playing with it. Big upgrade from Dreamweaver 4. I'm not as far along as I like, but my biggest hassle with Dreamweaver 4 was having to code my navbars by hand because 4 just couldn't handle what I wanted it to do (and quite honestly, that kind of HTML and CSS coding is simply out of my league). CS3 does all of that for you with spry. Now if I can teach myself to use divs (or at least get my tables not to have gaps in them) and learn how to do revolving headlines like you would see on CBS Sportsline, foxsports.com, or cyclones.com, then I'll be cooking with fire...

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
