Alvin Bowen comments in Houston Chronicle

In todays Houston Chronicle, there is an article written on Danny Arnold who operates Plex; a sports performance program (preparing NFL hopefuls for the combine) / training business. He talks about "diamonds in the rough" and had this to say about Alvin Bowen:

"If he goes to the right system, some place like Indianapolis, he'll be a huge success. Can emerge as one of the new breed of linebackers, smaller but quick enough to cover the tight ends and stong enough to defend the run. Reminds me of (Texans Pro Bowl middle linebacker) DeMAeco Ryans."

Like Hugh Hefner? =) I think he's right. There is no doubt in my mind that Bowen will be successful in the NFL. He is a hard worker who never lets up. With some NFL tweaking and training watch out!

Bowen will make a immediate impact for whoever drafts him on special teams. If nothing else (I'll think he'll do more) he will be a great special teamer for years to come. Good news!

"Ace", what a great story & success. From a college athlete & taking care of his younger brother, to a running backs nightmare on the field.

I'm sure his talents & abilities will be recognized by the scouts in Indy. He'll be a special addition to any team that picks him up.

Good Luck to - Alvin, Tuba & Todd!!!

If Ace can be anthing like Demaeco Ryans, then he would be tearing it up in the NFL. Let's all hope that he can do this!!

Draft him Tony! Bring him to Indy!!!

I'd love to see Alvin and Bob laying the smackdown on defense together.

Re: Alvin Bowen comments in Houston Chronicle

that would be so weird tho... seein him and bob on the same side.. then clark on the other side of the ball.. just awkward

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Alvin Bowen comments in Houston Chronicle

he'll just have to hit clark extra hard in practice/drills then and bobs tackles would go down 50% so it is a perfect place for an insidious under mining of EIU alums.....DUH muahahahahahaha

"Day after day, situation after situation you do things the right way. If you do things the right way, in life, you are going to be successful. I'm not just your football coach; I'm not just here to win games. I could not be prouder of who we are and who we are becoming, together. You do things right in the classroom, off and on the field; that's whats's makes us Cyclones and that's what our culture's all about."

I think he would be a great special teams player ala Steve Tasker for the Bills a few moons ago. Hopefully he can work his way in at linebacker too down the road.

I hope Ace goes high in the draft and goes to a decent team (no dolphins or raiders or anything). This is mainly so I can buy a jersey of his when he signs!
