    Re: Toshiba quits hd

I'm still surprised that the 'war' didn't last longer. I really thought they would both stick around for equal amounts of time until the next thing took over. I guess once the wall started to fall for HD-DVD it really fell fast as studios and retailers started to make their moves.
Hmm - I may have to look closer at getting a PS3 now...... is Gran Turismo 5 out yet?

Probably a silly question... Will Sony Blue Ray play fine on Toshiba High Def T.V?

Yep, you'll be just fine. Any Blu-Ray player will work with any HD TV. Just depends on what cords you want to connect it with, but that's another argument for what's worth your money ;)

I knew this format war would snowball one way or the other. I'm not amazed that it didn't last longer... I'm amazed it lasted this long. I'm glad we've got the Blu-ray player.

I had the xbox 360 hddvd addon, I'm glad I didn't buy any movies for it now, and I'm even more glad the "war" is over one way or another. This is much better for consumers, I don't plan on buying a bluray player in the near future, at least not until the players and media get to a reasonable price.

I have the addon as well. The only movies I have double as regular dvds as well.

    Re: Toshiba quits hd

I picked up PS3 back in January. I really feel my contribution tipped the scales in Blue Ray's favor. ;-)

If you got some extra money you'll probably be able to pick up a HD-DVD format player pretty cheap. Plus some HD-DVD movies that won't be out on Blue Ray for a while.

Yeah, now it seems silly to buy just a Blu-Ray player when you can get the PS3 that already has the player for a bit more.

I picked up a 80gig model and have had fairly good luck playing PS2 gen games. Saved my hiney cause now I can get some very kid specific games and the wife can't get too mad about it only being a "me toy".

I don't know...if players got below $80 I imagine you could get 1 - 2 yrs use out of it. Especially if you're the type that prefers to own. I can only find Blue Ray for rent at Blockbuster in town.

A couple of months ago Walmart was selling an HD DVD player for 99 dollars actually.
