    Anyone else dumb enough

to drive to freakin Norman, OK and watch the blowout that will be the Cyclones Vs. Sooners. I will be making the drive. I will somehow figure out a way we are going to win on the way down. I will convince myself of Victory. Then we will do the same old crap. Then I will fume on the way home about Barney Cotton and the rest of the coaching staff. 10 hours there 10 hours back. The game starts at 11:30 a.m. so little tailgating. Screw it I am going anyway.

    Re: Anyone else dumb enough

I went in 2002 when we lost 47-3. Actually I had a great time as they have an awesome atmosphere. Oklahoma is kind of my Big 12 south team because my father-in-law is a huge fan of them. I think I've been to three games down there now. It's a good time.

One thing, I doubt we'll lose 47-3. Got that going for you.

    Re: Anyone else dumb enough

I just said something profound but it got lost in translation. I think it went something like this; ISU needs more fans like this. This is why I like the schedule; a win here could change the entire season, would be the biggest in school history. Any given Saturday and who knows? Maybe Cotton won't show up and Sklandeny takes over the play calling for both O and D.

I am looking for a big surprise in N orman. Let rolling stones gather no moss on the way down.

We need Jim Waldon to take over and pull one of those "I can't believe we just won that freakin game" games. Remeber K-State and Nebraska.

I would think we would have a chance if it wasn't for Adrian Peterson. He will run us over like a diesel-powered combine.

    Re: Anyone else dumb enough

Yup, I'll be down there yelling my lungs out trying to cheer over 80,000 Sooner fans. Win or lose, I'm really just anxious to see the place. I love seeing other stadiums and I'm sure Oklahoma will have a helluva game-day atmosphere. In any case, it'll be easier than leaving at 7 p.m. on a Friday, driving 15 hours straight to get to Austin, leaving on Sunday morning to get back at 2 a.m. Monday leaving just enough time for an all-nighter to finish my HW assignment due on Monday... (I'd do it again if I had the chance)

One thing does kind of scare me, though. I just came across an article about OU on CBSSportsline and found this little bit of info:

    http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/9714703

"Win or lose against Texas, Oklahoma has gone 7-0 the following week under Stoops and outscored opponents 263-87."

    Re: Anyone else dumb enough

My last trip to Norman was a 33-31 Cyclone win, a long time ago albeit - but the fandom, the atmosphere, and the food were all good.

Back then they expected to roll over us badly and didn't have the paranoia of a Nebraska fan. And when a loss happened, they embraced us like to say "I can't believe your team just did that! Let me give you a beer!".

The last time I was in Lincoln they keyed my car and threw things at me, even though they thrashed ISU.

Then again, my vehicle was just vandalized in ISU's lot C5 Sept 30th. I doubt it was exuberant Panther fans. It's all a matter of being in the right place at the right (or wrong) time.

Have a safe trip and have fun - no matter the outcome.

    Re: Anyone else dumb enough

I can't wait to see OU. I think it will be great. I love seeing other stadiums also. Last weekend I went the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau field. What a freakin experience that was. I suggest going if you have not gone. I was also a big OU fan when I was little. I got so sick of ISU getting creamed in football that I made them my back up team and have rooted for them ever since. I grew up in the 80's so there was not much to chear at the ISU games. I alway looked forward to seeing the Boz and there crew come in the Cyclone Country. So this should be a fun weekend. Win, lose, or Heartbreaker in overtime.
