    Jiri Appreciation Thread

This thread is to show our appreciation to Jiri Hubalek. I really think Jiri is one of the most underappreciated Cyclones in recent history. I don't think people realize how important he is to this team. I also don't think everyone realizes how difficult it is to completely change the way you play. Jiri played the "European big man" way his entire life until last year when he was asked to be a force inside. And for the most part, he has responed. Sure he's had some tough stretches, but he has had way more good games than bad games.

Also, let's not forget that, much like Clark, Jiri could have left when Morgan did. But he stuck around as well. I think Jiri deserves credit for this, just like we always praise Clark for it. Jiri plays with great intensity and has a passion for the game.

I will greatly miss both Jiri and Clark next season.

    Re: Jiri Appreciation Thread

I would appreciate him more if he get his butt on the blocks and quit jacking up 3's.

Clark was HUGE today, he will be a big loss at the end of the year.

    Re: Jiri Appreciation Thread

I think most will remember him fondly and he'll be an asset in the future overseas. I see him having a productive pro career across the pond. He is and will continue to be a great ambassador of ISU.

    Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
    'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Clark was huge. I will agree with that.

However, without Jiri we don't win this game today.... in fact, we don't win very much at all.

Thompson and Brackins are nowhere the caliber of inside player that Jiri is right now, at this point in their careers. We would really be hurting if we had no Jiri.

    Re: Jiri Appreciation Thread

We will undoubtedly miss Rahshon and Jiri. They are a huge part of this team. Without Rahshon, we never get back in the game. Without Jiri, we don't finish them off. (with a little help from Haluska)

Like I said, Jiri is underappreciated. Thanks for adding that emphasis to my point.

    Re: Jiri Appreciation Thread

I'm ok with Jiri shooting the 3 IF he is wide open at the top of the key or on the wing AND we have run the shot clock for 15-20 sec or so. He can hit that shot.

I agree with this thread and we will learn next year how we miss Jiri.

    Re: Jiri Appreciation Thread

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Jiri is one of my favorite players. He's come a long way with his game over the past few years and I don't think he gets enough credit. Some games he's really on and can be one of our leading scorers. Other games, he's covered too well, but that helps other players on the team with so much attention on Jiri. We're really going to need our players to bulk up next year to make up for what we will loose when Jiri leaves.

Just laughed when I read this. Not in a mean way but totally comedic. I think we all forget how hard college athletes work to represent us and our schools. They should all be thanked for the work they do. Can't say Jiri hasn't had me yelling at my set at times, but through it all I'm glad he was a Cyclone. Thanks Jiri.
