I wouldn't call it horrible. For me McFarland was the nice to have player in the bunch. If we lose Stinnet I will be bummed.

what is going on here? I thought all three of these guys were essentially 'locks' at one point. Is McD not quite the closer we thought, or what? I don't think any of the 3 are make or break, but it would be nice to receive some good news with the *****-storm that is Football not impressing anyone.

    Re: McFarland chooses Idaho Vandals

McFarland was never a lock. Stinnet and Walker have been high probabiliity recruits, but reality is you don't get them all. Particularly when you are selling how I did at my last school. G-Mac already has a great class and while I would have loved all these guys it doesn't take away from the really incredible job he has done already.

    Re: McFarland chooses Idaho Vandals

I am not convinced that this is "horrible" news. This may sound like sour grapes, but except for the fact that McFarland was a team mate of Brackins and Stinnett, what did he have to offer? Wasn't he a 3 star? And don't we already have Wesley and Cory Johnson at the same position for 4 years? He may turn out to be a super star at Idaho, but losing him is not going to break the program

A "pretty much lock" is still not a certainty. Chalk it up to bad luck. Or maybe the recruits are seeing how our football fans treat the team after a loss and they don't want any part of it. :)

The percentages of landing each recruit were Jeremy's "best guess". He is just trying to provide us what we all wanted, which was an answer to the question "How likely are these guys to choose ISU". His numbers turned out to be too high (maybe because he wanted those recruits just like the rest of us) but you can't fault him for the information.

The good part is he commited without Stinnet which means Stinnet might not as been as thrilled with Idaho as Andre. I say good for Andre. If he wants to go to college there then he earned a Scholly and it sounds as though he has his head straight in life from the quotes I have heard.

That's exactly how I feel Geezer, good point. The program lives on, we still have Clark for 2 years and the Johnson's for 4. It's always good to have as much talent in the pipeline as possible, but I doubt McD is just sitting in his recliner staring blankly into space over this.

Well said. Most of these atheletes don't go pro after college. Good for him for using his basketball skills to go to the right academic college for him. Best of luck.

    Re: McFarland chooses Idaho Vandals

Come on, admit it! everyone here grew up wanting to be an Idaho Vandal!!! Seriously, if the guys goes to Idaho, who cares? He obviously doesn't care about playing in a big time atmosphere, on television, and against good competion. His loss!

Still looks like Stinnet is stringing us out looking for a better offer. Do not be surprised if he chooses Idaho end of Oct. Apparently these supposed recruits are going small school ball. How does that effect the 2009 guard from the same amateur team. More small ball school for him also?

    Re: McFarland chooses Idaho Vandals

As some people have noted, the small forward possition is still solid for years to come with Clark for probably two more years, and the Johnsons. While McFarland would have been nice to have I don't think he filled a pressing need. The needs as I see them are:

    1. Shooting gaurd
    2. Big Man
    3. Point gaurd

I second this. I think we are going to be set at the 4 position for a while.
