I thought Buckley was the floor general

why is everyone saying Diante is the future pg? I belive his confidence and control has improved alot but i just dont see him as a true floor general point gaurd. Why isnt there more talk or info on Buckley? I remember reading that the staff's plan was to have Dom start or was that just hype to get him?

Buckley will need a year to get grounded unless he is Tinsley or Curtis Stinson.

Let my Fred's Posse Ride: Georges, Naz, Hogue, Bryce, Nader, Monte, Matt, and McKay.

KG you said in an earlier post that Hamilton was to RS but it depends on how recruiting goes.. So I'm assuming we are in on a couple JUCO bigs, if so do you have any names, or are you sopposed to keep it quiet?

Not even the staff knows if this is a true statement.

Re: I thought Buckley was the floor general

Mods...I got this in an email so I'm not sure if it is premium content.

MICHIGAN'S "FINAL FOUR" CANDIDATES FOR MR. BASKETBALL – WHY THEY MIGHT WIN THE TROPHY – WHAT MIGHT KEEP THEM FROM WINNING THE TROPHY

    Dominque Buckley
    Romulus High School
    6-2 senior point guard
    Signed with Iowa State University

    Dominique Buckley - Romulus

Why DB might win the trophy …
You don't hear anything negative about Dominque Buckley. He's a good student with a great head on his shoulders. All he does is help his team win in a very competitive conference. Some people don't think he shoots the ball all that well. His senior year, he's proving his critics otherwise. He's a four year starter and his program will be over 80 wins in his four year career at Romulus. That is incredible! I think he's going to be a very very solid Big 12 point guard for four years at Iowa State.

What might keep DB from winning the trophy …
Definitely the darkhorse of the four candidates at this time, probably #3 on everybody's list at this time. He hasn't put up startling numbers and he hasn't competed in Lansing for a state championship. Those are the two strikes against him. He just doesn't have the resume that his competitors have for this award.

They're keeping this quiet...but I will say it is slim pickings for bigs.

Re: I thought Buckley was the floor general

I don't think we can expect him to start right away. There were also some really good write ups about Garrett Last year and it was obvious that he wasn't quite ready to start college ball right away. With continued improvement I look to see Garrett start at the point. If Buckley is good enough to start that can only mean that we will have a solid backcourt next year.

I also think he will start if we don't get Appleton. I am basing this on something McDermott said in an interview a while back. I can't remember the exact quote, but it appeared that he was very high on Buckley, and said something to the effect that he would "help us right away."

So you think Buckley is good enough to put Lucca or Garrett on the bench? If so, I strongly disagree.

Initially the staff thought they might start Buckley at the 1, and Garrett at the 2. That was however, before they discovered how good Lucca is. I could see all three of them starting in a 3 guard lineup with Wes at the 4 and Craig at the 5, but Buckley will not unseat Garrett or Staiger.

I have no problem with him starting, It's just hard to count on a recruit before he shows what he can do. I actually think I remember McDermott saying that he could contribute right away. Hopefully he is right.

Yes...you're going to see a rotation....I'm not saying anyone person is going to take all 40 minutes. Two different things. I'm saying Buckley is going to be running the show from the point gaurd position...Everything else will be based on match ups.

Snowcraig you always say things so matter of fact. It's your opinion and in no way a fact!!!
