David Lettermans FB Big Red Report Card

A Bret Meyer for running away from 400 rushing lineman so far this year

C- Todd Blythe for the pushoffs caught on ABC camera (he could have caught the ball over Grixby all night without doibng a thing just liker he did on the touchdown)

B+ Punter able to stop the ball on three yard line without visiible help

A- Walter Nickel catching a high rising fast ball while headed down to the turf

A+ Alvin Bowen for making the five biggest hits iof the night

B McC for aerobically walking six miles on the sideline

F + Refs for MISSING not only three touchdowns for the Cyclones, but numrous holding penalities, and even many bad calls aginst the Red Team

B+ Koch for longest run of carreer

B+ Banks for making some key hits and holding his own

B- Baum for no fumbled fair catch punts

D+ Did our ends play in this game? Do we have defensive ends?

B- Tuba for being bigger than Nebraska players

A+ ISU Band for being more numeous than dreaded Red band who gets to pick one trip a year to attend

C ISU Fans were not as loud as 11000 war mongers from Lincoln who brought their alcohol and swagger to the game

A- ABC for helping us recruit by showing the game; nmminus for their 3 minute timeouts

B+ Fox Sports going ahead with oplans to show the Oklahoma ISU game next week

A - Blowup Helemt is a hoot when it starts smoking

    B+ Kickoffs went relatively well

B+ Demarcus just being Demarcus Physical

A++ Stevie Johnson stealing the fumble in the pile

D- Whovever called the plays outside opf the first two excellent offensive plays starting in each half (two plays in first half were to Nebraska natives)

A Stevie being the best oline blocker

What can we say is BEST so far this year:

    OFFENSIVE
Offense has won the close games.
Stevie looks healthy and is faster and bigger.
Bret has not yet been sacked 39 times by a long shot like last year.
Game time injuries have been few.
KSU and Coklorado make us look good. Kansas is lsing all the overtime games,. They all reside in the North.

    DEFENSIVE
We tackle well for the most part.
Our team does not get tired out after a number of plays despite no depth.
Nebraska was held to 28 points asnd their fans were upset.
We have not been blown out of a game to date.
    The group runs well.
Alvin Bowen shows enthusiasm like we had with Steve Paris and Ellis Hobbs.
The long play has not really occurred against us - just ten play, seven minute drives.

    DOWNERS:
We have no identity or strong suit to play to at this point.
We have not sold out a game officially yet.
WE cannot score more when it is needed.

    UPPERS:
Shaggy is doing better under pressure.
    Few injuries during game.
We areas till good enough to win severla more games if we can get our head screwed on straight
We have the most glib quoters for the upcoming games in the league - like 54 undefeated hometeams.
We have a very nice staff who really tries to do many things like be on talk shows, etc and make apearances.
Golden Rules Shirts looked very spiuffy except the back should now rerad Beat Texas Tech. Besides the TT coach is already bad mouthing his offense - throw baby out with the bath water.

Surely someone might want to rate the grade for the coaches.

Re: David Lettermans FB Big Red Report Card

The coaches received another C+ because they are easier to blame than the players:
B- for Special teams coach for no blatant errors
B- defensive coaches for holding Ne to less than Kansas defense.
D+ offensive coaches for blowing half the opportunities on possessions.

However Nebraska coaches rated B+ for never having to take a chance all night - like riding their Lexus throughout the game.

Those are some pretty high grades for an overall failure. I won't do the math, but I bet it comes out to a 3.0 or better. Back when I was at ISU, the profs threw Cs and Ds around more freely than you are giving the clones A's and B's. I give the whole team a D-, for losing badly to a Nebraska team that they should be better than.

When we are on the road the marks go down.

    ISU Overall rating was C.
    Nebraska had a B- rating.
Nebraska won, but in doggy fashion. Red fans were not too pleased with the second half. They still have some tough games to play.

We have pretty much been C average all year:
    Toldeo D+
    UNLV D-
    Iowa C
    Texas C+
    UNI C-
    Nebraska C
