My V-Day Gift From Some Dumb***

Hope you are all having a great v-day. Mine is already going pretty ******.

I came out of my house this morning to find my 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo parked right where I left it. However, as I go to open my door it gets caught about 1/5 of the way open. This is when I notice that someone was nice enough to run into my car last night and, as the kicker fail to leave a note or stop in to the house.

Ames police will hopefully be by sometime soon, however, it looks like I am going to get saddled with cost of this dumb***' mistake.

Also, I have had my Monte Carlo for just over 6 weeks now, so I am not too happy I already have to take it in for body work.

Also if you happen to see a white vehicle missing parts of its front left grill (I am guessing that it was front left at the moment) and bumper (black in color) please let me know.

Yep, thats the way of the world these days. Probably drunk when he/she did it. Hit and runs have to be the biggest pain in the butt for insurance companies, victims, and police. Pretty much nothing you can do but curse and pay.

I hate it when I get side-swiped by the cops. Jerks

Re: My V-Day Gift From Some Dumb***

A few years ago, my car was in the shop getting some work done, and it was going to be a few days. It was a small town shop, but they had one car that they loaned out, so I got that one to use. Our house at the time had a one car garage (wife got use of that), so I was parked at the end of the driveway, which had a space poured parallel to the street so you could turn around in the driveway and pull straight out onto the street. Anway, mid afternoon on Sunday, I'm in the kitchen when I hear a very loud "THUD". I walk to the front window and look outside to see a car sliding through the front yard and into the neighbors yard. Then I look to where the loaner car was parked, and it's been knocked about 30 degrees off its previous position. When I look back to see the driver's reaction, I see the car jumping the curb and tearing off down the street. I called the cops immediately, and luckily another driver saw the whole thing and wrote down the license number.

When they finally tracked the guy down, they found he had no license and no insurance. I know, huge surprise there. I felt bad for the shop owner who loaned me the car, because I'm sure he had to pay for most of the repairs out of his own pocket. Definitely a weird experience.
