OT: Breaking... North Korea tests Nuke

Apparently North Korea has tested a nuclear weapon as planned. Supposedly the test was successful. Now, if we had only been tough on them instead of the non-existent threat in Iraq...

Note, this is off-topic and I don't mean to be political on the site in any official way, this is in the OT forum.

Touching a lot of nerves with that "non-existent" comment, Jermey.

Not that I disagree with you though. ;)

Re: OT: Breaking... North Korea tests Nuke

You need to understand the overall strategy and history. Terrorists can only attack the United States with state support, because they aren't just looking to crash planes into buildings. They are looking to destroy us, by using nuclear, chemical or biological means, which cannot be achieved without state support. So ANY state which provides any kind of support or demonstrates any type of sympathy with the cause of Islamic fundamentalists is considered an enemy of the rest of the world and must be dealt with. This includes North Korea, Afganistan AND Iraq. The principal state, along with North Korea that must be dealt with, is Iran, and if you look at a map, you will find US troops on two sides of Iran, which gives us leverage to put immense pressure on them. To your point, North Korea testing a nuclear weapon is very, very big news, and presents a huge problem.

With all the Syrians, Yemenese, Egyptian yahoos, Iranian zeolots, Kooks, criminals, jackasses, crazies migrating to Iraq, threats are existent every day if you move about. Unfortuantely for all, the technology is now availble for a few to threaten the many like never in past history.
