    HELP SUPPORT JTC

Below is a letter that a friend of mine sent to Jamie Pollard. I believe that this is a very good idea and something that other cyclone fans should get on board with. Many of us who know Scott have emailed Jamie stating that we fully support the idea below. Please help me out and let's send our support as Cyclone fans to take Jack's memory and build on it. There are too many Cyclone fans who even did not know the full Jack Trice story.

Jamie, I just read the article above and the blog comments below it. I remember learning about this back when I walked the campus as a student and it made me feel very proud ... although we were still battling the facility name change. I did not realize that we were the only D-1 school to have a stadium named after an Afro-American. This is Huge and should be show cased. What an excellent recruiting tool! What an excellent marketing tool !
I also started to think of the significance and importance of this. This is ISU heritage and a large part of that identity that we are always searching for. Something that is relevant and fills you with Pride.
I suggest that part of the Facility upgrade include moving the Jack Trice statue to the front of the stadium in a place of honor where it can be showcased. Possibly surrounded by marble seating, eternal flame, spot lights at night, narrative block, etc... etc...
There should NEVER be a visitor to the Stadium nor a recruit who leaves the facility not knowing the story of Jack Trice and the naming of our stadium. It helps define us as a university and a community ... it is a large part of ISU's identity.
    Go State! Scott

I would agree with that. Trice was a great man.

Nice letter with good ideas. I support this effort fully. It would be pretty sweet to have the statue all lit up and prominent.

A lot of universities do it, and it's a great idea. The Nile Kinnick statue in front of Kinnick is very impressive. Would be nice to see the same at Jack Trice.

They already moved the statue from campus to in front of the stadium though...

I remember taking a break on campus on a bench by the statue, and wondering who this guy was. I checked out the "note" Trice is reading and it gave me chills. I was expecting it to be some stodgy donor or professor...not someone with the story of Jack Trice.

It would be nice, if the statue was showcased more than it is now.

I think he is probably considering where it is the "side" of the stadium.

It could probably be placed in a more prominant spot that would draw much more attention to it. I would be all for that.

    Re: HELP SUPPORT JTC

Yes, I realize that it is on the side of the stadium and obviously I am not speaking of it's current state and instead making it more prominent in the front of our stadium.

It used to be near Beardshear, just south of it in a courtyard.

    Re: HELP SUPPORT JTC

I think it is in an alright place now on the east side of the Jacobson Building. It is a very prominent statue and makes me very proud to be a Cyclone. If I remember correctly, it has brick layed around the statue with a couple benches...correct me if I'm wrong.

    Re: HELP SUPPORT JTC

I would say in addition to a more prominent place for the statue, the quote of his discussed in another thread be visible as you enter the stadium. Possibly under the new entrances to the stadium from the renovations or on the front of the new suites, etc.
