S&P 500 index funds and international index funds. I plan to sell them in about 40 years.

    Re: Investment gurus...

About 6 months ago I invested in Anheuser-Busch, Coca Cola, Johnson & Johnson, Southern Company, Exxon Mobil, BP, and (I forget the name of it but it's ______ Source). What they all have in common is they're DRIPs and they're all owned by my dad (call it a late wedding present).

I plan on selling off the stocks after I retire.

Not an investment guru, but if you truly believe that we're in or on the cusp of a recession, many "gurus" will say to invest in the stuff that people need regardless of income. Such as food and clothing (especially discount).

    Re: Investment gurus...

I have retirement savings and growth and income plans put in a mutual funds. If you are looking for the smartest hassle-free way to invest for retirement, or substantial income this is the way to go.

On the side for fun and a little extra scratch:

APPLE (AAPL) Because they are true innovators and it's undervalued. FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT (FPL) Because they have a strong buy A+ rating, solid growth and have recently built many wind-turbines in Story County. I support people that support my community. JetBlue (JBLU) Because they had a big run last week, and I wanted to make some money.

So in other words it's Florida Power and Light that's responsible for making Nevada look like it's revving up to take off from a runway...

I too am in a club and I highly recommend it to those wanting to learn more about investing and of course wanting to have a good time.

Our group meets once a month and drinks some beer and eats some pizza along with discussing companies and doing research, etc.

FYI ... I lost 490,000 credits on them thanks to Joe Lunardi from ESPN's Bracketology on KXNO the other day. He was talking about how well they've been playing lately now that they have some injured and/or suspended players back.

    Re: Investment gurus...

    I like teldar paper!

If you're playing it safe go with the consumer goods JNJ, CL (colgate), BUD is always a good buy during a down period.

If your a gambler..go after the financials and lenders I like C (citi) & also think AKAM and vmw will be exciting in the next year. I think tech might get a good lift this year.

    Anacott steels in play!
