At the risk of starting another food thread...

Not trying to get into a "that place sucks, this place is better" debate, but I'm looking for a place in Ames with a good Sunday brunch. Prime Rib buffet would be a huge plus.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Even though the place is evil, Tournament Club of Iowa has the best Prime Rib in Iowa (smoked) and it is always on the Sunday Brunch.

Old Main has probably the best brunch in Ames. Prime rib, Pork loin, omelettes, fresh fruit, baked goods, all the breakfast standards as well.

Whatever happened to Elwell's on the west edge of town? They used to have a good brunch, but I haven't been there in years.

Gateway hotel used to have the best brunch buffet in town, but they've since done away with it. Olde Main is pretty good, my family goes there every few months, I'd say that's your best bet now.

I checked out their website. Looks like a pretty good menu for Sunday.

Try driving a little bit up the road to Story City (straight up Hwy 69) about 15 mins, there's a place in town called The Cottage. D@mn best food - and the servers are great. Try The Cottage Milkshake when you're done (some booze in it, but delicious).

Good call on the Cottage, haven't been there in years, but it was very good.

We usually only go when my Grandma is in town and she picks up the tab, but I'd venture it's in the range of $15, give or a take a few bucks.

Cool, well I'll have to wait until the in-laws are picking up the bill before suggesting it then.
