    But Who?!

I never thought that I would jump off the Mac bandwagon, but I think that he has taken us as far as he can. If the time is really here to let him go and look for a change, who would this mystical savior of the program be? Just trying to think of who would want to come to Iowa State and take us to the next level? A coordinator from somewhere else? A washed up guy from another failing university? Thoughts? Someone send out and ISU SOS

I was thinking about this too, but not being an expert on assistant coaches or coaches at all, i was curious to know if anyone knew of "logical" people??

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Drake brought Tom Davis back. Can we bring back Hayden Fry? He is younger than Bowden and Paterno. How about an old retired pro coach? Jack Hamm?

    Re: But Who?!

With our plans for a stadium renovation, an athletic director who is committing to raising money and winning, and recent records in ticket sales, why wouldn't a really solid up and coming coach want to coach at Iowa State?

    Re: But Who?!

I think Iowa State's program is attractive. Fans are showing they care about the team as evidenced by two sellout games and the new season ticket sales record.

Perhaps the Devil is available? I would rather have him coach the clones than Fry.

    Re: But Who?!

The biggest key is money. Right now we don't have the money to pay a big-time coach no matter how attractive the program may look, it's money that matters.

How about John Cooper? ISU alum. Won at Tulsa and ASU. Fired at OSU because of losses to Michigan.

Steve Loney. Loves ISU and wants to be a head coach. Would at least bring back a solid offensive line and perhaps some imagination on offense.

Perhaps a coordinator (preferably offensive) from the SEC. Ties to the South and its talent would be a refreshing change for ISU (think Johnny Majors).

    Re: But Who?!

Steve Loney is an excellent idea! I am salivating just imagining what he could do with Meyer and Blythe. What about Patterson at TCU? His wife is an ISU alum (if I remember from the bowl game), and has family in Iowa, so that could be a strong incentive. I kind of like Farley from UNI, he seems agressive, but there seems to be a real difference from being a good 1-AA coach and a good D-1 coach (right, Terry Allen?). Leavitt at South Florida has impressed me, but I get the impression it has become his life goal to bring make the Bulls a perennial BCS contender. I have faith that Jamie isn't going to "settle" for someone. He won't make the decision to can Mac until he has a very strong candidate lined up.

That would just be funny if we took UNI's head MBB coach AND their FB coach and won with both of them.

I've felt for a while now that Bo Pelini would be a good head coach, and is just getting the seasoning and contacts he needs to get to that position......he is currently the D-coordinator at LSU I believe.
