    Re: AAA

I am switching to them for my car and home insurance and am saving a boat load of $. One catch is that you have to be a AAA member. That is the reason for my joining.

    Re: AAA

I spend a lot of time on the road, and my AAA membership has more than paid for itself it the times I've had to be towed, my reimbursements for surprise hotel stays, and the discounts I've got through them. And no, I get no sponsorship money from AAA.
I also can't find a promo code anywhere to share with you.

    Re: AAA

I know the girlfriend's AAA membership is WELL worth it.
I would have at least come out even this year as well, had I been a member.

    Re: AAA

Never have had AAA, my new car came with a free year of OnStar and never have used it once and I don't plan to renew it when the year is up either. I figure I already have GM roadside assistance with my car that will cover me through my warranty and anything like a flat tire I can change myself so why waste the money on it? I have a cell phone for anything else. You can probably put tow coverage on your insurance policy cheaper too I bet.

    Re: AAA

If all you are using it for is roadside assistance then it's a waste of money. You can get roadside assistance and rental coverage under you car insurance for a few dollars a month.

What insurance company were you with before that you're saving so much?

I was with American Family. My agent quit American Family and became just a broker for a bunch of companies. I went with Met Life b/c it was cheaper than American Family. I have had 2 glass claims in the past 2 years and was encouraged to shop it again.

So, I am getting more coverage on house and autos, a NEW umbrella policy and the cost for the AAA membership and am saving in the 00s per year.

I'll tell you this. If you switch from Am Fam to anything else you;ll save money. Maybe not so much on the auto side, but the Home Owners insurance will save you just about anywhere you go.
I know how ridiculous the rates can be. I used to work for them.

    Who was your agent?

    Who was your agent?
Her last name changed 3 times. Acutally I have not heard a peep from her in 2 years. She got married and moved to another office. Her name was Lomli or something like that when I started with her.

    Marci Lomeli.

I switched when I walked into my agent's office and she didn't know who I was. We worked for the same company.

Am Fam is a lot higher in Home Owners. If you talk to the right agent they'll tell you the same thing. A guy I work with switched from them after 25 years because he was going to save $450/year in HO. Then they were absolutely beat when it came to Auto and his newly driving teenager.
