    O.T.: Need Advice!!!

I was married on December 29th of last year (2007). My wife is concerned that we have not sent out our thank you cards yet. I am planning on finishing them on Monday the 18th. She thinks that people will be upset about how long it took to reveive them.

Okay, here is the question... Would you be offended if you did not recieve a thank you for a present until almost 2 months after the wedding?

All advice and opinions are welcome. By the way, she gave me permission to post this question to CF before we started writing the thank you cards.

    TIA!

I would not be offended, but your time limit on that is running out. Besides, what can you do about it now? The longer and longer you wait, the more offended people are going to be. But I think thank you notes are silly. I would not care if I did not get one at all.

I would stay that there is two sides to this. The older generation will be more likely to be upset it took so long or might have already said something. The younger generation probably doesn't care.

Most people forgot what they even got you for your wedding and I doubt many of them are sitting around getting upset by you not getting them their Thank You cards within 30 days. If they are getting upset by it, then they need to find some hobbies.

    But that's a man's opinion.

I would generally concur with this sentiment, but again, that is just me. Thank you stuff kind of loses its meaning if it is essentially compulsory.

I got married last July, and we didn't get ours out for some of the late gifts (those we got in the mail several weeks later) until the semester break in December.

I'd say just get them done and send them out. Some of the old people will be much more offended with not receiving anything than with getting a late card.

I asked my wife, because my opinion doesn't count in matters such as this. She says absolutely you can still send them.

    Re: O.T.: Need Advice!!!

Thanks for the advice so far! It's so much easier to ask you guys since none of you sent me a wedding gift! ;)

My wife just admitted that she was willing to let me post this question on CF just to let me vent, so again, thank you!

You should be enjoying a 'second honeymoon' just for writing them in the first place.

I would not, and have not, been offended. It really doesn't matter to me if I get a thank you or not, however, I have seen some really neat Thank You cards.

    Re: O.T.: Need Advice!!!

This is something my wife and I do regarding thank yous. When we give a gift for a wedding/graduation/confirmation etc... we always put on the card that a thank you is not necessary. Wolverine, I know this does not help your current situation, but you should be ok to send these a bit later.

I think thank you cards are a waste of time and money. Do people hang up thank you cards when they get them? My guess is that 99% of people open them up, read them real quick and then toss them.

How about e-thank yous? Has anyone done that yet? I think that will be my big invention for a website, nobody can take it!

    Re: O.T.: Need Advice!!!

I agree w/ someone above: you're still ok, but your time is running out. I received a thank you 6 months late once, and while I was a little annoyed, I was happy to finally get it.

    Re: O.T.: Need Advice!!!

We just got one from a wedding we went to in July. People get busy, most people understand that. Most men dont care if they get a thank you, its a woman thing. Why do you have to get them done anyway?

    Re: O.T.: Need Advice!!!

I still haven't sent out thank-yous for my HS graduation in 1997. My mother still grinds her teeth everytime I mention it. Most of the offended older generation are probably dead by now anyway.

I wouldn't have sent out for my wedding either, but my wife is much more socially adept.

In my opinion you ought to by a six-pack with the stamp money and call the buddy that got you the sweetest present to thank him and remember to get him something good. Then sitback and forget about it.
