    iPod help

My wife got an iPod Nano for Christmas and I'm just now getting around to doing something with it. So, I have iTunes installed and my library all loaded in iTunes and a playlist to sync with the iPod. When I connect the iPod it seems to find it okay but when it tries to sync (which bugs the heck out of me because it seems to try to sync everytime I do anything), after a few minutes an error message pops up saying something like "Can't find required disk". Is it not finding the iPod or one or more songs in the library or what?

    Re: iPod help

I would go to Google and type in the exact error message. There will be plenty of help from other people who have had the same problem. I don't know your error exactly, but this may help:

    Re: iPod help

If you are using a usb hub, bypass it and hook direct to your tower.
Also, if your ipod ever locks up press the center button and 'arrow up' button down together for like 15 seconds...it resets the ipod.

if not one of these issues, its beyond me...I'm a newb as well.

    Re: iPod help

You can also set up iTunes so it doesn't sync everytime you connect it to your computer, only when you want it to.

This isn't an issue if your computer is newer, but if you have an older computer that doesn't have USB2 on it then supposedly it doesn't work. When I bought my iPod I also had to buy a USB2 card and install it into my computer.

    Re: iPod help

I got a message similar to this when I discovered mine was a fake. Are you sure it is authentic?

    Re: iPod help

Also, make sure if you're using a Mac that you have at least OSX 10.4 or greater. Any Mac using Panther (10.3) or older wont recognize the new Nano, while a PC with USB2 would work fine.

    Re: iPod help

Thanks for all the advice. I found a solution in the Apple support forums. Had to re-register a bunch of dlls (dll hell anyone?).
