    K-State has 19 Juco recruits

More than half of their recruits are jucos. Why would Prince be doing that. I didnt check to see how many were 3 year guys but even if they were i cant see why any coach would bring that many jucos in. I know he is new there and trying to get things moving forward but he is going to take 2 steps forward and then 3 steps back in 2 years. Someone explain the logic behind this.

Re: K-State has 19 Juco recruits

He has to win this year, if not, he's job huntin imo......

I also talked about him selling his soul to the devil and then having 32 players committed with only 24 leaving. I thought you could only have 85 on schollie.....i know all these guys arent walking on...........someone did post a reply to my comments that made a lot of sense.....he might have 32 players committed and 19 being jucos, but, will all those jucos make it with grades....doubt it.....probably the reason why they're at juco in the first place!!!!

Good Luck job hunting Ron, maybe you should be running the stairs instead of your assistants.......

Re: K-State has 19 Juco recruits

I think Prince knows that this is most likely his last year, since he had talent aplenty this year, but couldn't win. He is not that good of a coach, IMO. Freeman hasn't developed as well as most people thought we would though.

I am guessing he hopes to have success this year, then parlay that into getting some good high school kids.

Some of his HS kids could be midyear guys too. Wouldn't that allow him to play with the scholarship numbers?

Re: K-State has 19 Juco recruits

I would say it's a job security thing. Besides, how many of those JUCO's might actually start. We brough in a good chunck last year and only a few actually started. Its all about depth, and this might allow some of the current freshman to mature a little more once they become Juniors. I don't think its a great move, but it's not a dumb one either.

I think you can only bring 25 players in a year.

Doesn'st Kansas have some of the best Juco football in the nation? It'd be stupid not to take advantage of that, but 19 is a lot.

Re: K-State has 19 Juco recruits

That's how K-State built their program the first time around. They were lower then ISU on the totem pole and Scneider turned it into a consistent top 20 program doing that way. I'm not saying it's the best way to build a program, but obviously it worked before.

Re: K-State has 19 Juco recruits

He signed something like 11 Jucos in his 1st year in 06. Snyder also had a number of Jucos in 04 & 05. None of these guys are still around unless they either redshirted or were 3 year guys. There were also some guys who left due to the coaching change. He probably needs some Jucos this year to fill the gaps caused by the events of the past 4 years.

25 is the max amount of scholarships you can distribute in a season, and you can only have 85 students on scholarship in any given year.
