    Lent

I haven't heard much about it this year, but is it still common practice among Protestants to give something up during Lent?
I believe Catholics give up meat (or is that just on Fridays?)
What I am giving up may seem small but its going to be tough-
Salting my food and Diet Dew.
    Remember, Lent starts tomorrow.

    Re: Lent

I think a lot of Catholics and Lutherans still give things up for lent. I don't think it's a bad idea.

Our church is protestant, and we don't give up anything.

    Re: Lent

Typically it was just no meat on Fridays for Catholics, and usually give something up.

The more hardcore fast all day Friday. Tried that once - sucked big time.

That implies that the slabs of food served at Long John Silvers is actual fish, I'm not convinced just yet.
