    Hobbs to have surgery

Supposedly playing hurt during super bowl...

    Update
Ellis Hobbs III will undergo off-season surgery on an injured groin (sports hernia) in his attempt to put the injury behind him. Hobbs was beaten on the game-winning TD by Plaxico Burress after re-aggrivating the injury in the first quarter of the Super Bowl.

    What's it mean?
A "source" reported that Hobbs played through tremendous pain throughout the game, and given the fact that he was giving up over half a foot in height to Burress, he likely should be spared any evil thoughts for failing to defend the final score.

    Re: Hobbs to have surgery

It jsut shows how tough he is. I wonder how much it affected his performance. He played pretty well overall I thought, except for that last play.

That explains why he looked so bad, I imagine with a pulled groin your body won't let you drive off on the plant.

I think he did an excellent job. I was kinda worried how his performance would be after watching Plaxico man handle the good CB's of Green Bay. It is hard to stop a great receiver on every play.

Yeah, Ellis is a good representative of our University.

    Re: Hobbs to have surgery

Meh...he got beat, plain and simple. He isn't the first CB to give up a game-wining score and certainly won't be the last.

Sucks he was injured, hope he recovers. I'd venture to guess this had something to do with him not returning kicks.

    Re: Hobbs to have surgery

Even when Moss scored to put the Pats up, the Giants corner fell down. Corners almost always give up at least a half a foot to NFL receivers, and when they are covered one-on-one down by the goal the receiver always has a huge advantage.

I thought maybe he sustained a neck injury from Amani Toomer pushing his head back 90 degrees on that no call play.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

    Hobbs playing hurt

    From CNNSI...

Sorry if this was already out there.

More than Ellis Hobbs's pride was wounded when he was beaten by Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress for the deciding points in the Patriots' 17-14 upset loss in Super Bowl XLII. According to a source close to the Patriots cornerback, Hobbs was playing with a torn labrum in his shoulder and chronic groin pain. The source said that Hobbs, who didn't miss a game during the season and has missed just one in his first three seasons, had surgery Feb. 12, nine days after the Super Bowl, to repair the shoulder. He originally injured himself in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts.
