    Clones Dodge a Bullet

When 260 pound 19 year old Patrick O'Bryant of Bradley signed with an agent, he went to his workouts and totally impressed the scouts. Being quite fluid for a 7 footer at Bradley, he has a 7-5 wingspan and reaches 9-4 upwards before jumping. When ISU plays Bradley next year at Wells Fargo Arena, no Patrick O'Bryant for Bradley. Our Bigs would have been in trouble. Patrick was passed on by the local school Minnesoata Gophers as he was not even a TOP 300 Recruit.

    Re: Clones Dodge a Bullet

Yes, WM probably could have recruited Patrick O'Bryant.

Instead Patrick chose Bradley. He was almost in ISUs backyard. With Patrick O'Bryant in center, Curtis and Will might still be around instead of deciding to go pro after a lackluster team year. WM might still be the coach still explaining D-1 scheduling. Oh well, WM, backyard opportunities are sometimes missed.

This is a prime example that the star ratings given by Rivals or Scouts are just somewhat educated guesses.

O'Bryant Caught Lightning in a Bottle in the NCAA's

O'Bryant could develop into a NBA player, but I doubt he contributes much for 2-3 years.

O'Bryant had a great NCAA Tournament, but his regular season at Bradley was up & down. He could look solid one night and disappear the next. I doubt he weighs 260lbs and IMO he's going to have to get tougher to be a starter in the NBA. Heck SIU got physical with him in the MVC Championship game and he disappeared in the 2nd half.

I wonder what happened with ISU's recruitment of O'Bryant. Darryl Sharp(sp?) was from the Twin Cities and was ISU's basketball operations guy and had plenty of AAU contacts. I believe we were looking at O'Bryant during the summer recruiting period. Hard to believe Aaron Agnew looked better than O'Bryant.

maybe he wasn't looking for a father figure in his next coach.

    Re: Clones Dodge a Bullet

Cory Johnson is our heaviest Cyclone at 6-7 215, while Alex Thompson does not count yet.

Jessan at 200, Jiri at 205, Ross at 210 makes for really lightweights in the middle. Actually Jessan looks the healthiest. Actually Jessan looks heavier than Ross than Jiri.

Wer need some volunteers to fatten these boys up. Maybe we can give them some free cramcakes at the IHOP. Can anyone tell these guys where the buffets are?

We should have a contest to see which Cyclone roster member will be the first to 220.

I am putting my money on Jessan.

Now I was just joking, but we must encourage them to add a little muscle this year. They will not have to run the court pell mell all game like they had to under WM. We will now have a PLAN on defense and on offense.

    Re: Clones Dodge a Bullet

I think I read that O'Bryant had offers from some Big Ten schools but chose Bradley because they were recruiting him since he was a junior. I don't think he would have gone to ISU even if WM did offer.

O'Bryant was also hurt for the first half of the season, that is why he didn't do much until later in the year.

You nailed it! GMAC is a coach...which is what he's PAID TO DO.
