    Re: Will Blalock interview

It is too bad Will wasn't on some better teams because he is a serious talent. One of my favorite Cyclones despite him leaving early. He is exactly the guy we need on this year's team (well, besides Jamaal Tinsley).

Could have used him last year, too.

    Blalock
    Taylor
    Rahshon
    Wesley
    Jiri

    That'd work.

Good article about Will. Too bad the Pistons couldn't keep him on the roster; it was fun watching him play for them.

What ever happened to Stinson? The only amusing thing I found about the end of that season was that Blaylock got drafted and Stinson didn't.

The Iowa Energy tried the trade for him last month. Coach Nurse said they had
a trade done, but the guy on the Iowa Energy didn't want to move to L.A..
, so he went to Europe instead.

    Re: Will Blalock interview

Heard something the other day that will probably apply to Blalock.

50% of all the players who attain one year of service time in the pro ranks (MLB, NBA, NFL) never get to 2 years of service time.

So the guy left early to provide for his family, doesn't get drafted and you mock him? Add in the fact that he's a former Cyclone and I've got to say that my opinion of you is quite low.

Hey I just found it amusing that the media fawned over Stinson most of his basketball career that he was the next Jamal Tinsely, yet when it came draft time the NBA didn't see it that way. Then compare him to Blaylock who to me seemed more like a blue collar player who didn't get near the attention, but worked hard and got recognized for it.

As far providing for their families, these guys were 21 years old who had free ride schlolarships to get 4 year college degrees. Most people thought they would have been better off staying one more year and getting that degree and becoming more rounded players. They both ignored that advice. It worked out for one of them(arguably) and it didn't for the other. So no I dont' have much sympathy for their current situation even if they are former Cyclones.

And since when to minor leaguers get the choice on where they go? Huh.

Funny you use the term "blue collar" since that was actually Stinson's nickname. If you watched any of the games, you could see that Will was the better pro prospect. That being said, Stinson was a very good player at the collegiate level. He certainly earned the recognition he received and to try to downgrade (copyright Mike Gundy) what he did at ISU is ridiculous.

Also, I don't know Stinson's current situation but you can make good money overseas playing basketball. I would guess he's fairly happy playing a game for a living.

    Re: Will Blalock interview

My intent was never to diminish what Stinson did for ISU. Rather as the NBA did, give Mr. Blaylock more credit then he got.
