I would think that this a publicity nightmare waiting to happen. I wouldn't doubt that soomething is changed. Like the one guy said, you can go to a store and buy a 100" TV now. Does that mean that if someone has a 55" TV in their home that they can't have a party because it infringes on copyright laws?

Up next...the SuperBowl moves to the NFL Network, so that we can all pay to watch it. I'm just giddy with the anticipation of hearing Bryant Gumbel calling the big game...

I want to know how they plan on enforcing it? Do they sent a spy to every church to make sure nothings going on? lol

It's that all powerful NFL. They send one letter and it scares the crap out of these places. They know that these churches can't afford a legal battle against the resources of the NFL. Send a threatening letter and that will be the end of that.

    good point.

I suspect they are counting on the non-believers to turn churches in. Basically snitches.

IMO: the law needs to be changed. Although the part about public rebroadcast over 55 inches is the key. An at home SB party with a 65 inch plasma is a private party.

It said public showing on a TV 55" or larger. And, I really don't see how they can enforce this everywhere. If places are advertising for a Super Bowl party, then that will get their attention, but if the invites are personal, there's no way they could enforce this.

I wonder if the churches just submit their plan to the NFL beforehand, so that the church doesn't get slammed with a lawsuit.

Could a church just send out flyers to it's members? Would it be considered private then? If you brought a friend along with you then that's OK?

I would LOVE if it went to the NFL network. I get that in HD, not crappy NBC/CBS/ABC/FOX/etc. Dish Network FTL.

I think I'd take normal versus HD if I didn't have to listen to Gumble. Get rid of him and it would be the best of both worlds.

Between the NFL and the Recording industry, it will soon be illegal to view, listen or receive their product, in any form.

They would replace the loss in revenue through lawsuits.

I just love how incredibly stupid he is. I brace myself everytime he speaks. The crap that spews from his mouth is just ridiculous.

You could always watch it on HD and listen to the radio or something

Yeah and I can think of several bars around here that have TV's larger then that as well.
Though I imagine the NFL would get even more opposition out of bar owners.
