    Clinton Mann

Mann scored 23 of his team's 56 points last night and carried his team to a three point victory over a now 10-2 Bishop Miege team.

    Re: Clinton Mann

I just read a little about this - Miege has KU recruit Travis Releford on it, the #70 prospect in the country and they pulled out the victory. Eric Bossi (who I consider to be a very good recruiting analyst) said this of Mann:

Clinton Mann came up with some very nice plays for Aquinas. He's a hard nosed kid, and once Aquinas got patient and waited for him to setup down low there wasn't really any way that Miege could stop him. He also made a couple of huge passes from the free throw line extended that led to easy buckets while Miege was trapping all over the floor. I just wish he'd cool it a little on complaining to the refs, it takes away from how well he was playing.
I find it interesting that he said he was complaining to the refs, but Bossi makes it sound like he's a beast and did a good job passing out of the post. I think that's something we really miss this year - our big guys don't pass out of the post all that well.

I can't remember the last time we did have a good big at passing it out of the post. Homan was an absolute black hole and everyone knows when Brackins and Jiri get it down low that it's going up... At least both our bigs are very good at passing from the high post...

    Re: Clinton Mann

Played against Mann's older (but smaller) brother 4 or 5 years ago in sub-state. He was cocky and complaining to the refs the whole game. And he wasn't that good. I was surprised when I first heard the name and the school, because his brother wasn't that good. Anyway, hopefully Clinton is a good kid and good player. Bossi's evaluations are always pretty solid on phog.net, so hopefully he'll be a decent guy to give some of Hubalek's minutes to next year.

    Re: Clinton Mann

Brackins should never have to pass out of the low post. Give him some time and he wil grow a lot like Marcus to where he commanded the ball down low and nothing could stop him from scoring. Remember the OU game in the B12 tourney in 00? Marcus was double and triple teamed by Eduardo Najera and company and still scored 22.

His older brother is now a senior and is playing BB for William & Mary at guard. There was a note in the KC Star about him within the last week.
