Recruiting Note - Random Thoughts on Tonight

    Random thoughts on tonight’s win…

    - First of all this was a great win. Watching the first 20 minutes of that game was like watching at bad high school JV girl’s game. Nonetheless, a W is a W and without Wes Johnson, this team will take what they can get.

    - I talked to Iowa State recruit Tyrone Appleton tonight. He told me that KU has offered him and that it’s down to the Jayhawks, Kentucky and Iowa State. It’s good to see Iowa State with the likes of Kansas and Kentucky but for as long as I’ve been doing this it’s always the same story. The longer these things to on, the less of a chance there is this kid will end up in Ames. Example – P’Allen Stinnett.

    - Is Richard Roby not the most obnoxious player in the Big 12? How long has this guy been around anyways?

    - I liked the play of the two freshmen Brackins and Garrett tonight, especially in the 2nd half. I really think Craig’s getting a lot better on defense and Garrett is starting to show why recruiting analysts were in love with his ability to penetrate and dish. He has the talent. I really think he’ll be a special player at Iowa State.

    - How can any decent human being not like Cameron Lee?

    - Nebraska is next up for the Clones. I hope the Huskers knock off Missouri on Wednesday night. They should considering Missouri coach Mike Anderson pretty much just suspended his entire team but if not, the Big Red will be 0-5 heading into Saturday’s match up with Iowa State and that will be the definition of a must win for the Huskers. Though they’re tanking at the moment, I still think Doc Sadler is a solid coach and winning in Lincoln will not be easy especially with Nebraska’s backs against the wall.

Not only is Cam Lee just a solid energy guy... he actually looks like he can play Big 12 bball as a backup.

Cam Lee is quickly becoming a crowd favorite! However, unlike past crowd favorites **cough** Skogs, **cough** AA, this kid can actually play!

I agree Cam Lee continues to impress me. Much props to him and the impact he has coming off the bench. What great contribution from our bench tonight.

Cam's a little undersized, but man is he quick. Smart player too. That back door cut he had was sweet.

Cameron Lee was outstanding tonight! So was Haluska. This was clearly the weirdest game I've ever been too. I wanted to puke at halftime, and in spite of that, I STILL lost my voice from the 2nd half! Haluska and Lee made the difference in this game, but I still cannot express enough how much of the 2nd half's 42 points were won by TEAM EFFORT!

Lol, I said the same thing to my roommate at halftime but I also added "with worse shooting."

It was a weird game, but as Chris mentioned a "W" is a "W". I agree Cameron is going to become a crowd favorite - love his energy. At one point last night, I thought he could actually play the point guard position if needed.

Lee totally deserved to start the 2nd half too. Really enjoy watching the kid - I think he'll continue to play if he can give us even a little bit of what he did for us last night.

Re: Recruiting Note - Random Thoughts on Tonight

My #1 issue last night was we played probably the worst half of basketball that we have all season in the 1st half. The effort was lacking, our shot selection was terrible, and at times we just stood around. I'm glad we found a way to light a fire in the 2nd half because I was probably as frustrated as I have been all season with our effort by halftime.

I think they just didn't know what to do once Wes went down. They got them ready to play at halftime and made great adjustments, and that's great coaching.

Was Barnes at the game last night? I thought I saw him but I'm about half blind at this point.

Yes, Barnes was at the game - again. I've seen him at at least 4 or 5 games so far this year.
