    All American Football League

So how long will this league last. I think they made a good choice in only have a couple of teams (6) and locate them in big football areas, Texas, the southeast and Michigan. The Texas team has several former Big 12 QB's in Eric Crouch, Kliff Kingsbury, and BJ Symons.

I think it will only last a season or two. Too much competion with the NFL and AFL to have another niche I think. I don't know how much the players get paid but tickets look to cost about the same as a college game would.

I believe one of the requirements is that a player actually graduate before he's eligible to play in that league.

    Re: All American Football League

I actually watched the draft on Cox Sports TV. They have been planning the league for over 5 years. They are trying to fill a need in the spring for some football in "football hotbeds" by providing a 10-12 game schedule with rosters full of "name" ex-college guys that people loved when they played in college but just weren't good enough to make the NFL or didn't get a good enough shot in the NFL. Each team could protect local legend type players (like the Texas team did with the two Tx Tech QBs). Also, all players have to have a degree to play in the league. I actually think this can make it in the markets they are in (Florida, Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Michigan). It is giving the players the chance to make a little money and maybe get noticed and get another chance in the NFL. Let's face it, the AFL needs a pretty limited type of athlete to play that game which is not real football...this is real football and will give guys another shot.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Will these games be on any kind of TV?

I'm sure they will be. The one thing they did right was get the universities involved. I beleive all the board members have University affiliation, they are hoping the 'degree rule' will help spike graduation rates. I think I read someone that they are also giving bonuses to players for getting advanced degrees or working towards them...

    Re: All American Football League

In the omaha paper on sunday they talked with crouch and asked him about the team he is on. He said they are going to run the spread offense, throwing it 50-70 times a game. He actually thinks he is going to start over Kingsbury or Symons. Whatever he is on I would like to have some of it.

    Re: All American Football League

The more I am hearing and reading about this league the more I like it. Working with the universities and the degree requirement are awsome. It seems the people in charge are making good choices so far as to how they are handling it.

    Re: All American Football League

it looks like it will be good fun football... nice to give guys who didnt get a chance at the NFL a chance to show what they can do and maybe eventually get on a NFL roster.... i think the NFL should partner with this league and make it kind of like triple-A is to baseball
