    Call in show Callers

If you are some of these callers, sorry in advance.

Why do people feel the need to call the Greg M show and tell them their life story and how they were able to find time to call in, he probaly doesnt care, either do I.

Why do people feel the need to call in and tell him some about some play they drew up in the sand that they think he needs to run?

Why do people can in and tell him he needs to do such and such when different things happen?

Unless you have more NCAA coaching wins or NCAA tourny births than the coach there is little need to call him and tell him how to coach.

Dont call in and fumble and studder around what you want to say and ask, ask the question and listen to the answer.

    Thanks

    Re: Call in show Callers

Those reasons are why I rarely listen to the call-in shows. It's like a mild version of Sound Off many times.

I'm not a caller. I don't listen to the GMac call in show. I'm curious, what questions would be asked in a perfect world?

It is painfull and I dont listen all the time but it can get real bad. They would be better off for fans to e-mail the questions so they can filter out the bad ones. That or just have Mac and John talk about the team.

    Re: Call in show Callers

Shows I don't watch/listen to because of the callers:

    1. Jim Rome
    2. Sound Off
    3. Coaches Call-in shows

I often wonder why shows allow call-ins as I and many other people would rather listen to the coach talk than moronic callers. I LOVED Tony Kornheiser’s radio show because he refused to take callers on his ESPN show (which was part of the reason he got fired) and his local DC show that used to be on.

the same reason people do it here...they played some High school basketball. Far more valuable than actual D-1 coaching experience.

Ask questions about the team, the players, the player coming in, how players look in practice, the previous game, future games, different teams.

    Re: Call in show Callers

I'm a fan of the "what are your thoughts on this situation"
    or
"How are you going to handle this upcoming opponet or this new situation"

A.K.A get some insight on how the coach is handling his job, as opposed to telling him how to do it.

Unfortuantly those calls are few and far between, and that is why I also don't listen to those shows much

    Re: Call in show Callers

The worst is when callers call in and spend five minutes gushing over the coach and talking about how big a fan they are. I'm sure it's nice for the coach to hear, but it's not good radio.

    Re: Call in show Callers

Yeah, pretty much anytime I'm listening to a sports talk radio show and the host says, "All right, let's go to the phone lines..." that's when I turn the station. I don't listen to the radio to hear what Billy Bob from Elk Horn has to say.

I watch soundoff, but only for the first 10 min and then for what's bugging Andy, I skip through the callers. Especially the ones that want to talk about frickin Nascar.

    Re: Call in show Callers

I can't handle more than a few minutes of the call-in shows. It would be much more palatable if they justed used email questions, then they could select the sensible ones and trash the meaningless drivel. Coaches earn every cent they are compensated for doing these shows.
