If Beasley were in Ames would he be having the season he is having at KSU?

Would his touches be limited? Could we get him the ball? Would he have to share? Would the reigns be loosened on a player like that or would be be developed systematically? I believe next year is pivotal for our program. I believe the honey moon will be over, and more wins or competitiveness will be demanded. This isn't a post that was made because of the last two losses. This is even relevant if we make the tourney this year.

he would still be just as good... with his talent level it doesnt matter, because he demands the ball in the post and scores at will... if he wanted to he could probably average 40 ppg

I don't see anyones touches being limited on our team right now.

Also, I don't believe in timetables for winning X number of games or going to the tourney. I think we have a great staff and success will come. We're playing in a tough league and I still think we will be making some noise in the conference before it's all over this year. If we can get Colorado tonight and then win at Lincoln we will be one up on trying to get to .500 so these next two are really important.

Beasley would never even get a phone call from us. Coach doesn't want guys who will play one year and leave. Plus, we want character guys who will represent Iowa State as student-athletes.

chris, I'll have to disagree with you on this point. Last year after the Texas game a caller on the coaches call in show asked Greg if he would want a guy like Durant even if he knew he would only be here one year. Coach replied that any coach would love to have a guy like that on his team regardless of whether he thought he would stay more than a year.
I do agree he wants character guys but that doesn't eliminate one year players.

    1) How do you know coach wouldn't take a one and done guy?
    2) Did Beasley do something to diminish his charachter?

I'm not arguing, just asking because I don't know.

I also would like to know about Beasley's character issues. I have respect for him and his game. Sometimes we confuse confidence with being cocky.

Beasley would be having the season he's having if he were at Duke or UNC. He's that good.

His touches in Ames would be limited because we don't have a PG that could give him the ball!!

Watching the KSU-ISU game I didnt see anything that would get me to think Beasley was less than classy. He played hard and smiled. Never gloated or gave dirty looks or acted like a baby.

Re: If Beasley were in Ames would he be having the season he is having at KSU?

I would bet (and hope!) that McDermott would want these types of players. Even though he is a 1 and done, it brings your program to the top of the recruiting level. It would be HUGE for ISU if the #1 recruit in the nation signed with us.

I doubt Texas and KSU regret getting Durant/Beasley for just a year. Are we really on our high horse saying we only want 4 year guys?! I sure hope not.

I'm excited that we secured a top 20 player in Craig. In the long run that will help with recruiting also, IMO.

Like it or not the elite teams will be getting guys that either are 1 and done or have the potential to be. I'd love to have someone with that kind of talent.

When they were struggling he repeatedly ripped his teammates and showed them up on the floor. To some people that's character issues to others it's just playing with passion and intensity. It doesn't really bother me either way.

    Beasley wouldn't start at ISU.
