    Better than LCD and Plasma?!

    For those of you thinking about upgrading to HD in the next year if you haven't already there may be a new type of technology out soon!! Laser Televisions are supposed to come out this year, has anyone else heard of these? I doubt it will show too much in prices but they are supposed to cost about half the price of LCD and Plasma to make, as well as having a better picture than the other two.     There is always going to be the next great thing around the block.

    From what I have read, they are just DLP or LCOS tv's that the source light is a laser instead of a lamp. Supposed to give you a lot sharper picture.

    Interesting.

    The article is from Oct. '06 and stated the TVs would be available for Christmas '07. This is the first I've heard of them.

    My $0.02 - plain old CRT's are better than plasma and LCD's for color accuracy, which to mean is more meaningful. Also, that "side by side" looks to be nothing more than marketing propaganda. I would be seriously shocked to believe both of those are set to equivalent levels of brightness, saturation and contrast. I'll have to see it for myself before I believe it.

    Yeah a lot of the older articles said available for 07... but now it's supposed to be a for sure thing this year, from what I've read.

    I agree. That set on the right looked seriously flawed.
