    Signing day Commits

Does anyone think there are some commits out there that we wont know about until they sign with the team? Chizik has said from day one he wants to keep the kids he goes after quiet so others dont jump in on them. I hope there are a few highly ranked kids coming to ISU that not many know about. There have been 20 or so commits for a while now so it makes me wonder if the rest of the class is finished and we just dont know about it. If not that is Ok this staff has worked wonders with the players they were left so I bet they can do the same with the new ones.

    Re: Signing day Commits

There were a couple of pleasant surprises on signing day (even afterwards with C Franklin) last year.

    Re: Signing day Commits

Well if you mean are there any 3-5 stars left - not very many that have visited. I am thinking juco. Looks like kids will turn down other schools at last minute, and possibly come our way. Not enough talent to go around. Looks like Miami, ND, and Florida have the best new talent in the cuntry

Might be an interesting betting line. I'm guessing there will be some nice surprises. Looks like Chizik is really trying to keep things quiet on the recruiting front to keep the vultures away. I'm looking forward to the final list.

    Re: Signing day Commits

If there are any real surprises they would probably have to be JUCOs. Any HS player we pick up off of the radar will probably be a lightly recruited 2-star. Hopefully I'm wrong though. Past surprises, like Collin Franklin, were guys who didnt have any major interest from competing schools.

    Re: Signing day Commits

Well I certainly hope they are able to keep keep some of the recuiting names under wraps. Hope they are able to pull a Jamie Pollard when they had hired Chizik to be our new coach. There will be some names we haven't heard of before, you can count on that but as if they are any good remains to be seen.

    Re: Signing day Commits

I doubt that there will be any "highly ranked" surprises. However, we may find a juco soph or two who will be enrolling and was totally anonymous--like Collin Franklin or Alex Alvarez last year. It'll be interesting to see who Chizik has successfully kept under wraps.

    Re: Signing day Commits

I think Chizik has some recruits under his wraps that aren't listed on CR. Like PC mentioned on there, we have a kid as a commitment and the other schools take interest and try taking him from us. We had a visit from a DE from Canada this past weekend and if I remember correctly his last name was Ling...I couldn't find anything about him, but it was also real loud in there and I might have not caught his whole last name.

I heard the same thing. Cameron Bell came into my buddy's room and asked him if he knew where any "ladies" were for a recruit from Canada. He sent them to the 7th floor.

    Re: Signing day Commits

I think there will be quite a few surprises....Not necessarily in 4-5* athletes, but, i would not be surprised if we land at least 2 maybe 3 more 3* guys. Having watched the recruiting extremely close over the past year, i've seen one thing that leads me to say the same thing that i say about McDermott....Our coaches and their staffs are doing an excellent job of judging talent and getting after them early. That has paid off with a few commits, but, at the same time, were going to get a few de-commits. Thats the price for recruiting talent. And for all those Tim Brewster fans out there, i say this - has he compiled a top 25 recruiting class, Yes. Has he proven anything about the ability to lead, coach or instill a philosophy that inspires young men to achieve greatness....I say no....recruiting to Minneapolis/StPaul is a lot easier because of the things to do when football is not in season - period....we got des moines. And i've seen a lot of people spout off about "well boise st won a bcs game and they have nothing". Correct, but, that was all about coaching, those recruiting classes that won against oklahoma were 2-3* players with a great system. Watch out for colorado, now they're getting talent to go along with Hawks system and they will not be an easy game for anyone in the next couple years.

Through all those ramblings.....Yes i think Chizik is holding his cards close to the vest, i think he has some talented guys that he does not want to release names to CR, have you seen anything new - ummm no.....its getting crunch time and that info has to stay quiet or they may not stay with us.....Chizik has seen what has happened when a player commits to ISU, other coaches and teams are simply preying on our coaches evaluations - its not like these guys are no names, a commitment to isu simply raises the attention these guys may put into his tapes to see if he blends with their system. I went onto ESPN recruiting and listed ISU - players interested in ISU and there are names that i've never heard or seen on CR or CN....so i know that somethings not adding up...We get visits from players not even listed on our perspective players lists.....The information is getting shut down and thats a direct result of us losing 6-7 commits that would have made a huge difference in this class.....would anyone be commenting if our class consisted of 13 3* players - no way...

We win 6 games this year and suddenly we have physical proof that Chiz system is working and players will soon be choosing between KU, Neb, Iowa, Missou, Minny and us....to implement a system takes time and coaching....we have to be patient - signing day is only 10 days away.....it will be a hectic ride!!!!!!

    Re: Signing day Commits

I think there will be a few surprises. Chizik and his staff have really tightened the reins in what information they allow to become public. No offense to PC, Rivals.com or Scout.com, but the early publishing of recruiting information is what allows the other bigger programs to come in and poach recruits. I know for a fact that Chizik is working hard to keep recruiting information under wraps so as to reduce/prevent poaching, whereas the previous staff would actively give out information to the publishers of those recruiting sites.
