    Convert AAC files to MP3

I use to use Jymn but it doesn't seem to be available any longer. Anything else I could use?

Re: Convert AAC files to MP3

I'm assuming AAC files are audio files? If so, you can always burn them onto a CD as an audio CD, and then re-rip them as MP3s with Yahoo! Jukebox or some other CD ripper.

Re: Convert AAC files to MP3

A simple google search yielded this site...

Xilisoft WMA MP3 Converter: convert WMA to MP3, MP3 to WMA converter

You have to pay for the software but it looks like it would do the trick. If your AAC files are unprotected you can also do this in iTunes itself. I believe in the preferences you can change your importing mode to MP3, then you can select songs or group of songs, right click on them and select convert to mp3.

Re: Convert AAC files to MP3

I've used Goldwave (GoldWave - Audio Editing, Recording, Conversion, Restoration, & Analysis Software) to convert AAC audiobooks to MP3 for years. They used to have an evaluation version that would let you use the program for, maybe, 25 times until it would stop. Then I would uninstall then reinstall. Eventually I just paid the $45 and bought the license, so I don't know if they still have it. But I think Goldwave is great.

You can use iTunes and it will change ACC to MP3 or WAV

yeah you can do it with imported songs or songs that you got from a friend or anything.

go to edit->then preferences-> then click on the advanced tab-> then the import tab->change import using mp3 encoder and then the setting quality you want, 160kbps is fine->then click ok

then go to your library and highlight the songs you wish to convert

then click on the advanced tab and go down to "convert selection to MP3" and then it will start converting them

Re: Convert AAC files to MP3

If it doesn't let you convert purchased songs, just burn the purchased song to a cd and then import the cd and then it won't be a locked song anymore

He means songs you buy from iTunes. Those are all m4p I believe. MPEG Layer 4 Protected. You might be able to change the DRM free ones you can buy now though

Yeah, that is one of the annoying things about iTunes, their protection on their m4p files. Whenever I buy a song or a disc from iTunes, I immediately burn it to a re-writable CD and then rip it back on my hard drive to get rid of their protection. If you have a TON of files purchased from iTunes, you would probably want go out and buy software to do the convert.

Thats what I mean. You can burn the protected songs onto a cd and then import them back onto your hard drive

You lose a lot of quality when you do that.
